Differences between North and South Cyprus

The island was divided into two parts in 1974, when the northern part was captured by the invaders, who declared it Turkish. Thus, Northern Cyprus has become a separate republic, which has not yet been recognized by any state, with the exception of Turkey. But the southern Greek part of the island remains the same despite numerous changes of government. But due to the fact that this part of the island is not recognized by the world community, a number of problems and restrictions may arise:

• a ban on entry to the southern part of the island;
• impossibility of registration of the Schengen;
• lack of embassies of other countries, with the exception of Turkey.

Its effect is limited by the need to board a direct flight from the territory of the Russian Federation directly to the island. The minimum period of validity of the passport should be at least six months.

Visa options

You can apply for a visa directly at the Cyprus Embassy located on the territory of the Russian Federation. Consideration of the application and receipt of the document will take about 3 days if a full package of documents is provided.

There are several types of visa:

1. Guest and tourist … In the first case, you need an invitation from people on the island. In the second - registration of a voucher in a travel agency. At the same time, there are no restrictions on the number of entries, and the total period of stay for each visit to Cyprus should not exceed 90 days.
2. Working and educational … The similarity of these visas is that legal confirmation is required from the employer or educational institution. The length of stay is the same as for the first type.
3. Transit … A certain category of citizens who need a transplant on the territory of Cyprus to resolve work issues is required.

The validity of a visa can vary from 1 year to 5 years. When registering it for a child or an accompanying person, the permission of both parents is required.
