The upcoming New Year's Eve promises to be quite rich in surprises. And the first surprise on a global scale is a partial lunar eclipse. In this regard, astrologers recommend taking care of yourself, celebrating the holiday peacefully and calmly.

On New Year's Eve, residents of our country "will be able to observe, for the greater acuteness of the festive sensations, unless, of course, the capricious weather, a partial lunar eclipse," again informs ITAR-TASS with reference to the press secretary of the Main (Pulkovo) Astronomical Observatory RAS Sergei Smirnov.

Smirnov clarified: “The Earth will shield from the Sun only a small part of the Moon - only a few percent of the visible disk of the southern part of Selena. A shadow lunar eclipse - the entry of the earth's companion into partial shade - is expected at 20:15 Moscow time. The beginning of the eclipse will then occur in a little over an hour. The Moon is expected to leave penumbra after midnight."

The lunar eclipse can be seen from anywhere in the country.

Talking about the upcoming celestial phenomenon, the representative of the Pulkovo Astronomical Observatory completely rejected the apocalyptic predictions of some astrologers who are trying to convince fellow citizens that the upcoming astronomical phenomenon does not bode well for the New Year.

“This is complete nonsense,” the astronomer said in his hearts. - As observations show, lunar eclipses, like solar eclipses, have nothing to do with our earthly life and are in no way connected with each other. In the outgoing year 2009, we observed six eclipses - two solar and four lunar. And at the same time, our life continues in spite of the whole series of celestial phenomena."

At the same time, the deputy rector of the Pavel Globa Institute of Astrology, Alexander Nepomniachtchi, has a slightly different opinion. “The year begins with a lunar eclipse. This throws a certain fatality into the collective unconscious. This beginning of the year means people will have to face events that will be difficult to resist. But it is not a fact that these events will only be bad."
