The history of the Ibero begins on the deck of a ship sailing to Spain. In the early 1950s, Olavi Rautio went to Barcelona as a scholar to study Spanish. During a long sea voyage, the young man spent time leafing through fashion magazines.

In Spain, Olavi made his living making jewelry in a costume jewelery factory. In his spare time, Olavi came up with and designed his own jewelry models, ideas for which he got from the fashion magazines he read on the ship. The owner of the jewelry factory liked Olavi's designs and introduced them into his production. In Finland, Olavi Rautio brought with him both his own design jewelry and jewelry from the factory where he worked. These jewelry received a wide response and were in great demand, as there was not a wide selection of fashionable jewelry in Finnish stores at that time. From that moment in 1951, the history of Ibero began, from the name of the Iberia peninsula in Finnish.

Today Ibero is one of the leading companies in Finland in the market for fashion jewelry, stylish accessories and beauty products. The CEO of the family company is Olavi Rautio's son Janne Rautio.
