By the way, a few words about cleaning and caring for knitwear:

1. If, when ironing, a hand-knitted product slightly scorched its surface, do not despair. The tan will disappear if you apply a cut of a raw onion to it for a quarter of an hour.

2. To prevent children's mittens or gloves from getting lost, connect them with a chain of air loops and thread it through the sleeves.

3. For washing colored wool, angora, mohair, never use detergents containing bleach.

4. The best detergent for washing "delicate" knitwear is soap shavings (2 g per 1 liter of water).

5. To remove all stains during washing, proceed as follows: dilute the detergent in a basin of water, and the solution may be slightly more concentrated than usual. Inspect the entire garment carefully and saturate the stained areas with the detergent solution. Leave the garment for 15 minutes and then wash as usual.

6. The collar of a golf pullover will not stretch out during washing if you basting along the edge with wide stitches with coarse thread. After washing, simply remove the thread.

7. If you suspect that the yarn may shed during washing, then wash the product as usual and put it in cold water for a day without detergent. At the same time, a thin paint film is formed on the surface of the fibers, which retains its color for a long time.

8. When washing angora garments, add a teaspoon of glycerin to the final rinse water. This will add softness.

9. Never hang hand-knitted garments on a hanger in the closet. They are stored folded on a shelf. But to keep the knitted fabric fluffy, do not stack them too tightly.

10. If the zipper on the jersey starts to "stick", rub it with soap.

11. Embossed patterns are not steam ironed, otherwise they will stretch out or become flat.

12. When rinsing wool products, the water for the first rinse must be at the same temperature as the wash water, otherwise the wool may roll.

13. Buttonholes will not stretch as quickly if you lubricate them with colorless nail polish from the inside out.

14. Products made from white wool will turn snow white again if they are rinsed in water with a little borax added.

15. Frequent washing destroys the wooden buttons. Therefore, before washing, they are wrapped with aluminum foil or food wrap to prevent them from getting wet.

16. Colored embroidery will become bright again if you dip the front of the garment in water containing vinegar before ironing and place it on a clean cloth.

17. Knitted items should always be washed by hand, not rubbed, but only gently squeezed. If you rub the knitted fabric during washing, pills may appear on it.

18. Before washing, you can coat pearlescent and colored buttons with colorless nail polish. Then they will not tarnish when exposed to detergent.

19. Knitted items should not be soaked for a long time. Better to keep the water cold rather than too hot, because when washed in hot water, knitwear shrinks and falls off.

20. If after washing the product looks wrinkled, and you do not dare to iron it, wet it again and spread it on a towel, cover it with a dry towel on top and let it dry.

21. Knitwear should be washed in soft water. If the water is hard, add 1 teaspoon of baking soda to the wash solution.

22. If the product needs to be starch, then first spread it on a horizontal surface, and then sprinkle with a starch solution. Here is an old recipe for this solution: 2 teaspoons of potato starch in 1 liter of water. However, it is much easier to use a starch solution in an aerosol can.

23. Never twist knitwear after washing, wrap it in a towel and then spread it out.

24. High quality wool and silk yarns are best washed with baby shampoo or bubble bath.

25. Never hang jerseys on a rope to dry; they will stretch and lose their shape.

26. To keep mohair and angora products fluffy, wash with egg shampoo. When the items are dry, put them in a bag and place them in the freezer for 2 hours. Then carefully remove and let them thaw.

27. Pilling appears on the jersey? Use a special lint brush. And in one magazine I read such advice: if there are pellets on the surface of a knitted product, take a men's razor and "shave" the surface of the knitwear. If the garment is dark, carry the knitwear stretched horizontally over the arms over the open flame of the gas burner very quickly. The pellets will burn from the flame, their remnants can be shaken off with a clothing brush. Do it very carefully!

28. If the product is small, then by pulling it out, you will not be able to make it larger: after a while it will return to its original shape.
