The first line of health protection is careful hygiene. A homemade hand sanitizer is a good alternative to store-bought options. Among the many ways to make it, we choose the best.
DIY antiseptic (vodka)
Let's take alcohol-containing drinks as a basis. Vodka is the most affordable option.
Components:
- vodka - 5 tbsp. l.;
- water - 1 tbsp. l.;
- aloe juice (preferably freshly squeezed) - 1 tsp;
- lavender essential oil - 5 drops;
- chlorhexidine - 5 g.
Preparation:
- In a clean glass container, combine all the components, mix well.
- Using a funnel, carefully pour into a suitable bottle with a tightly screwed cap.
- A fairly large volume is obtained from the number of components indicated in the recipe. There is no need to carry it around with you. Better to pour into a small bottle, for example, from under the Corvalol.
On cognac
Given the drink from which the antiseptic is prepared, this option is more suitable for aesthetes.
Components:
- cognac - 50 g;
- salt - 1 tsp;
- boiled water - 1 tsp;
- grapefruit juice (can be replaced with lemon or lime) - 1 tsp.
Preparation:
- As in the first case, mix everything and pour it into a bottle.
- Cognac has a pronounced aroma, so be prepared for the fact that after using an antiseptic, a characteristic smell will come from you.
On tincture of calendula
For those who are interested in how to make a hand sanitizer at home, here is another interesting recipe. As you know, calendula contains 70% alcohol-containing substance. We dilute it with water in a ratio of 1 to 1.
In addition, you will need peppermint oil, we drip it at the rate of 3 drops per 100 ml. Add vitamin E (it is sold in ampoules at any pharmacy). Mix everything thoroughly.
Pour into a suitable container, which is convenient to take with you. An important point: so that the product does not deteriorate and does not lose its properties, it is necessary to store it in a dark bottle.
Simple environmentally friendly antiseptic
Self-made disinfectants are often superior to those sold in stores because they are free of chemicals.
Components:
- medical alcohol - 60 ml;
- glycerin - 30 ml;
- essential oil (any, lavender, mint, grapefruit will do) - 5 drops.
Preparation:
- We mix all the ingredients and pour them into a suitable bottle. For example, from toilet water.
- The product disinfects hands well. It would seem, why such difficulties when it would be possible to simply wipe them with alcohol wipes. Everything, of course, is so, but then we will face another problem - dry skin. In this case, glycerin acts as an emollient, responsible for moisturizing. Essential oils give the antiseptic a pleasant aroma.
Alcohol-free antibacterial hand cleaner
It has its own advantages and disadvantages. A definite plus is that the antiseptic does not dry the skin, acting much softer. But the remedy is less effective.
Components:
- witch hazel extract - 15 g;
- aloe vera gel - 225 g;
- lavender essential oil - 10 drops;
- tea tree essential oil - 30 g;
- vitamin E in ampoules - 1, 25 g.
Preparation:
- In a bowl, mix the ingredients one by one.
- Mix with a spatula and pour through a funnel into a vial, preferably with a dispensing lid.
- Due to aloe vera, the consistency of the product is thick. Do not use too much gel at a time. Due to the lack of preservatives, it can be stored in the refrigerator for no more than a week, and even less in a purse - 3 days at most. It is pointless to use the product after the specified period has expired, since all antibacterial properties are lost.
Antiseptic on ethyl alcohol and hydrogen peroxide
Everything you need for preparation can be easily bought at any nearest pharmacy. These are simple drugs available without a prescription.
Components:
- ethyl alcohol - 830 ml (can be replaced with isopropyl alcohol, but then take a smaller amount - 750 ml);
- hydrogen peroxide - 40 ml;
- glycerin - 15 ml;
- distilled water (boiled, pre-chilled water is also suitable).
Preparation:
- Combine alcohol, hydrogen peroxide and glycerin, add water and immediately cover the solution.
- After a couple of minutes, mix the components.
- As you can see, it is not difficult to prepare a hand sanitizer at home. It remains to pour the product into bubbles so that it is convenient to take with you.
Antiseptic prescription WHO
A liquid sanitizer is best used as a spray by choosing the right bottle.
Components:
- medical alcohol - 100 ml;
- hydrogen peroxide 3% - 5 ml;
- glycerin 98% - 2 ml;
- boiled chilled water - 15 ml.
Preparation:
- To obtain a homogeneous liquid, combine all the components in a bowl and mix.
- Pour into a bottle with a spray bottle, leave to brew for 3 days and use.
- To give the antiseptic a more pleasant scent, you can add a few drops of any essential oil.
Antiseptic rules
Of course, it is most effective to thoroughly wash your hands with soap and warm running water. But the cases are different, and often there is no such possibility. Then antiseptics come to the rescue:
- It is important to cover the hands completely with them. First, it is applied to a cotton pad and then spread over the skin. This takes about 3 ml of solution.
- In order not to give dangerous microbes a single chance of survival, the treatment should be carried out for at least 30 seconds.
- Special attention should be paid to cleaning under the nails, as more bacteria accumulate under them.
- The skin on the hands is very delicate, thin and sensitive. Apply a moisturizer immediately after using an antiseptic to avoid dryness, peeling and cracking.
Microbes are all around us. If you can't wash your hands thoroughly, use a handy remedy such as a self-made antiseptic.
Summarize
- An antiseptic made at home is in no way inferior to store options. The main thing is to use alcohol with a concentration of at least 96% for its preparation.
- Self-prepared product is a worthy alternative to antiseptic wipes. They can also wipe doorknobs, mobile phones, and other little things with it.
- In addition to alcohol, a good antiseptic should combine moisturizing and skin-protecting additives, such as aloe vera.
