At a young age, skin care is not much of a hassle. That is, acne is, of course, a nightmare, but, fortunately, you can fight them. There is no urgent need to visit a beautician yet, and when you come from a disco, sometimes it's awfully lazy to wash off your makeup! In fact, the rule "take care of your youth" applies to the skin.
“The one who washes properly, stays young longer,” any beautician will tell you. By “right” washing is usually meant a process consisting of cleansing, toning and basic care in the form of a cream. Ideally, this ritual is repeated twice a day.
If self-care gives you pleasure and you decide to take a responsible approach to the choice of cosmetics for your face, step number one is to correctly determine your skin type. As with clothes, successful cosmetics are those that are right for you, not good in themselves.
Girls often determine their skin type on a whim or choose the one that they like best. In fact, there are specific criteria for determining the type of skin. Of course, a cosmetologist will advise you best.
At home, you can determine your skin type, focusing on the traditional division into oily, dry, combination and normal. To do this, you just need to have some knowledge and be attentive to yourself. There is a very simple test.
Cleanse and dry your face completely without applying any products to it. After that, lean a piece of paper against it.
- If the entire leaf is oily, chances are you have oily skin.
- If the leaf is partially fat, mainly in the T-zone, it is combined.
- If the sheet is left clean, you have normal or dry skin.
It would seem that now you can just pick up a tool and use it for your own pleasure. But for some reason, from time to time, skin problems still arise. If you go to a specialist, it turns out that everything is a little more complicated. Cosmetologists identify more than 20 types of skin. The fact is that in the usual classification only one parameter is taken into account - sebum secretion. But besides this, it is important to take into account the sensitivity (allergic) of the skin, the degree of hydration, elasticity, the rate of renewal of the stratum corneum, and much more.
Imagine: you have defined your skin type as "dry" and start using oily creams. But if you have a reduced rate of exfoliation of the stratum corneum, the oily cream will simply "stick the mask" to your face and cause irritation.
Therefore, one should carefully and with some reservations approach the division of skin into types.
Oily skin
Perhaps everyone is familiar with the minuses of oily skin: it is oily sheen, acne, enlarged pores and hateful blackheads - comedones. It is during adolescence that this type of skin occurs most often.
But on the other hand, the fat layer on the surface retains water better, and due to this, the skin ages more slowly, in the future it will form fewer wrinkles.
Care: Use gels with salicylic acid in the composition for washing (by the way, a high price does not mean better quality, the main thing is to look at the composition) and do not wash your face with hot water. Moisturize with a toner or light water-based moisturizer. It is especially important for owners of oily skin not to abuse exfoliating procedures - peels and belongings. If you have acne, rough exfoliation will only make the irritation worse. It is better to use gentle, natural scrubs no more than once or twice a week.
Dry skin
Our skin dries for a variety of reasons. This can be a congenital condition, the result of exposure to the sun, frost or water, and sometimes the result of an allergy.
Young people have dry skin with good tone. It looks great, is pleasant to the touch, and the pores on it are almost invisible. This type of skin is sensitive to external factors.
Care: Use a moisturizer daily morning and evening, and apply a nourishing cream in cold weather. Use a gentle milk or oil to remove makeup. If you are the owner of dry skin, you should not get carried away with scrubs.
Combination skin
This is a very common skin type with oily T-zone skin and normal or dry skin elsewhere. It affects 60 percent of the population and 80 percent of adolescents. The sebaceous glands are "active" under the influence of hormones. Often, with age, their increased activity ceases, and the skin becomes normal or dry.
Care: Ideally, treat each area of combination skin separately. But there are some general rules as well.
In hot weather, treat your skin as if it were oily. In winter, nourish it as much as possible dry.
Cleanse your skin to remove excess oil, but not dry out other areas. As in the case of oily skin, avoid soap and hot water - this provokes increased work of the sebaceous glands. Wash your face with special milk and massage your face with your fingertips for a couple of minutes. After cleansing, wipe the skin with lotion.
For moisturizing, choose non-greasy creams that include anti-inflammatory agents like chamomile or plantain. Night cream can be slightly fatter than day cream, especially in winter.
Sensitive skin
In fact, there is no separate type of “sensitive skin”. Any skin can be in a "sensitive" state, reacting to external influences. Most often, blondes or red-haired girls become the owners of such skin. The main signs of sensitive skin are tightness, discomfort after washing, red spots, sensitivity to temperature changes.
Care: the main rule for the care of sensitive skin is to avoid a large number of components in the composition of cosmetics. There is a whole list of things that can harm sensitive skin. These include flavors, colors, preservatives and artificial fragrances, so it is better to use hypoallergenic creams. Cosmetologists do not recommend scrubs or alcohol lotions for "sensitive girls". Do not get carried away with decorative cosmetics. The solution is powder and pencil instead of foundation and eyeliner.
Normal skin
This type of skin is the dream of most girls. Smooth, fresh and clean, it is even scary to spoil it with the use of products.
Care: the main task of caring for normal skin is to maintain its excellent condition and not dry out. Do not use soap when washing your face. Instead, get mild moisturizers and don't forget sunscreens in the summer.
Remember that your skin, whatever type it may be, is a reflection of your lifestyle and diet. If you smoke, love fatty foods, or can condemn a box of chocolates in the evening, do not scold your cosmetics for being useless.
