Russians can regularly receive statistical information from official sources. The Federal State Statistics Service publishes data for different periods. The market situation is presented in tables, charts and graphs. According to Rosstat, the average salary in Russia in 2022 can only be calculated based on the payment of insurance premiums and employers' reports. Information is always published in reviews and is grouped according to certain criteria, but there are also forecasts based on an objective situation.

Positive points

At the beginning of the second half of 2021, the latest news published unexpected results, which, despite some comments, even skeptical analysts agreed. The second quarter of the first year of the pandemic showed the largest drop in income. For this reason, some believe that the uptrend was not formed objectively, but because of the low base for the report.

D. Chechulin, a financial expert, reacted with distrust to the published data, arguing that the inflation rate should inevitably have a downward effect on macroeconomic indicators. He said that Rosstat also counted the flow of savings from banks to brokers as a decrease in income, but he had to admit that the economic recovery exceeded the most optimistic expectations.

The inconsistency of the data is in their comparison with the unfavorable last year, although it must be compared with 2019, a prosperous period when the economy was developing at a rapid pace. Rosstat, due to the need to submit real data in the traditional assessment, informs that the following happened during the year:

  • retail trade recovered more than 4%;
  • the nominal accrued salary grew by almost 11%;
  • increased cash costs (by a third compared to last year).

Compared to 2019, real disposable income looks less optimistic - it is 0.8% lower. But if we draw an analogy with 2020, they grew by 6, 8%. A pleasant surprise was the publication of comparative data for the first and second quarters of 2021 - the growth of real disposable income was as much as 14.6%.

However, the expert's opinion cannot be called definite - he is sure that in order to make forecasts, it is necessary to take into account 6.5% inflation and compare the data with 2019. In addition, the non-triviality of the situation and the ongoing pandemic do not allow us to confidently assume how the incomes of Russians will grow based on the dynamics of wage growth over the past years.

What it is

The determination of the average salary in Russia in 2022 according to Rosstat data cannot be made using the forecast method, therefore it is necessary to obtain a certain data set from employers - for a month, quarter, half a year or a longer period. SZ is a macroeconomic indicator determined by a simple method: summing salaries and dividing them by the number of recipients. However, despite the simplicity of the method, there is also the concept of the national average income - when all salaries in the country are summed up and divided by the number of officially employed persons.

The disadvantage of this indicator is precisely what it is calculated for - in averaging. People receive different amounts, the amount of which depends not only on the profession, but also on the region of residence. In large cities it is more than in small settlements, for state employees it is determined by the possibilities of the local budget, and for those who work in private structures - by labor contracts concluded with the employer.

The average salary in Russia in 2022, according to Rosstat data published in reviews and reports, can be published for a certain period, according to regional data or according to professional affiliation (sometimes according to the field of activity as a whole). So far, we can talk about this indicator only at the predicted level, but the data are encouraging even in comparison with 2019 and 2021.

Real numbers and forecasts

At the beginning of the second half of the year, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade raised the forecast for the growth of real wages from 2.4 to 3.2%, although in subsequent years (2023 and 2024) it remained at the same level of 2.5%. The reason for this was the higher pace of economic recovery, a decrease in unemployment and an expansion of the labor market. Only the growth in disposable income has remained at the same level, and this is due to the high percentage of inflation. However, representatives of the Central Bank of Russia are confident that in 2022 it will drop to the usual 4%, however, not by the beginning, when 5, 2% is expected, but by the end of the year.

The table clearly demonstrates the real and estimated growth rates of NWP, which are confirmed by GDP growth by 1.5% compared to the II quarter of a prosperous 2019 and by 8.5% in annual terms.

year

2019, real, thousand rubles

2021, real, in thousand rubles 2022, forecasted, in thousand rubles
February 43, 0 51, 2 56, 8
March 46, 3 55, 2
April 48, 0 56, 6

Average salary should not be confused with average earnings, which is the average earned by an employee over a period of time. The forecast of growth by as much as 5 thousand rubles. the average monthly salary in 2021 was not limited to the Ministry of Economic Development. A detailed analysis of micro- and macroeconomic indicators made it possible to develop a forecast, which was brought to the attention of all heads of the subjects of the federation. The full version of the document indicates that in 2022 the growth of the NWP is expected by 6, 6%, as in 2023, and in two years it will exceed the mark of 66, 2 thousand rubles.

However, the increase in wages observed with the stagnation of disposable income is a peculiar phenomenon of the first two years of the pandemic. Experts explain this by a high level of the shadow economy, a reduction in material incentives in the public sector, inflation and the fall of the ruble.

An increase in the average salary, as an indicator that Rosstat regularly publishes in reviews and summaries, will undoubtedly occur in 2022. The government confirmed its intention to index the salaries of military and cultural workers, to increase by more than 899 rubles. the size of the minimum wage, introduce new parameters of the subsistence minimum, and for all categories of the population - able-bodied, pensioners and children. The improved macro forecast indicates an increase in the salaries of Russians over the next period. Some indicators may be adjusted, as was the case in the first quarter of 2021, due to the inability to predict the inflation rate in advance.
