Muscovites will be able to undergo free screening for early detection of cancer

Moscow City Healthcare Department and Moscow Clinical Research Center named after V. I. A. S. Loginov is launching a large-scale program for the early detection of the most common oncological diseases in the capital. During it, Muscovites will be given the opportunity to take part in a screening study to identify susceptibility to breast and ovarian cancer (in women) and the presence of signs of prostate cancer (in men), free of charge, without prior registration and referrals.

The head of the Department of Health Alexei Khripun and the chief freelance specialist oncologist of the Department of Health, director of the ICSC Igor Khatkov spoke about this during a press conference at the Information Center of the Moscow Government.

- These types of cancer are among the most common. However, if detected early, they respond very well to treatment. Our task is to do everything necessary to ensure that the maximum number of residents of the capital can check their state of health and receive the necessary medical care in time when the first signs of cancer are detected, - said Aleksey Khripun. - Moscow has every opportunity to provide such assistance, which allows us to achieve effective treatment at the level of world standards. We expect that tens of thousands of Muscovites will take advantage of the opportunity to get tested and make sure that there is no risk of developing breast, ovarian or prostate cancer. This can be done on March 17 in the adult clinics of the capital, the addresses of which are indicated on the website www.mosgorzdrav.ru, and on March 18 - in the medical offices of some schools in which precinct election commissions will work.

As the chief oncologist of Moscow Igor Khatkov explained, during the examination, women will be able to pass a blood test for the presence of a predisposition to breast and ovarian cancer (BRCA 1, BRCA 2), and men over 40 years old - a PSA test (PSA) for signs of prostate cancer glands (prostate).

The analysis is carried out by sampling venous blood by qualified medical personnel from medical organizations of the Moscow state health system in compliance with all sanitary and hygienic requirements.
