A number of samples were found to contain high levels of fungal compounds known as mycoestrogens. During puberty, girls are especially sensitive to estrogen stimulation, and due to the presence of mycoestrogen, their breasts may stop growing, experts explain.

The experts explained that mycoestrogens are present in eggs, grains, meat and dairy products due to contamination or various chemical additives in animal husbandry used to improve meat production. Analysis of the girls' diet showed that the main sources of mycoestrogens were popcorn and beef.
