Despite the presence of a wife (whom Irina never forgot to congratulate on her birthday or a holiday), the chef liked to hit his subordinates. And it was Irina who was the "mediator" between him and the chosen passion.

In the company, Ira was appreciated, of course: a good education, 3 foreign languages (on occasion, she could be a translator), and there were simply not counting refresher courses, seminars and trainings. On the basis of her exemplary resume, it was possible to "teach the life" of freshmen in universities. One problem: for some reason it did not work out with a career. As I came to the position of the head of the department, I got stuck on her …

The manager's syndrome is rooted in self-doubt, the value of the individual as such. Then there is a substitution of the concepts of "I" for "an exemplary resume, replete with diplomas, foreign languages, completed courses", "positions", "responsibilities" …

Look how good I am, because I can do so much! I have something to love! At the same time, the owner of a brilliant resume himself is sure: they can love only for something, and not just like that - you, who you are. The worm of uncertainty, dislike, and unrecognition, which appeared in childhood, does not allow one to calm down, as if it eats away a person from the inside, he can no longer stop. It seems to him that any of his own achievements are not enough, he still continues to doubt whether this is enough to be appreciated, loved, and works twice or three times harder. Even more courses, more diplomas, even more mastered programs …

A person with a manager's complex can be recognized by the following signs:

- They put the interests of the company above their own - this is the employee who is ready to work much more than common sense and the volume of duties require, the one who voluntarily takes on a huge number of additional duties (often invents them for himself).

- He lives the life of the company, rejoices at its successes as his own, hard (like his own grief) experiences any failures, mistakes, for him work is a separate, integral and sufficient world for him.

- Leaving, dismissal from a company, the relationship to which is close to fanatical devotion, is tantamount to death, loss of a loved one, tragedy. If such an employee is fired, he may have a nervous breakdown, he may fall into a prolonged depression, as he will feel deprived of the meaning of life.

- A person does not adequately perceive his life, it is possible for him only in conjunction with work. He identifies himself with the position he holds, he can enthusiastically talk about his work, duties, and bosses. For him, "I" is what "I am at work."

- He tries to be useful to his management not only within the office, but also in private life, to provide personal services. And this is not even toadying, but a completely sincere desire. After all, if work is life, then the person who hires you to work is a part of this life, almost a relative, which means that his worries are my worries!

Irina was fired right before the New Year. All of a sudden … It's just that the boss's wife found out about her "additional" duties as a pimp, and he decided to appease his half by firing the "culprit." When the dumbfounded Irina, returning from the chief's office, told the department about the dismissal, no one even sympathized. Silently swallowing tears, Ira packed her things, meticulously put things in order on the empty table, and left the building.

For the next two weeks she did not get out of bed. I lay and looked into the stream … I didn't even cry.
