Conor McGregor, an Irish MMA fighter, has had a busy week. His thirtieth birthday, news of his girlfriend's pregnancy, the Longitude festival, and now a handshake with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The MMA star posted a photo he took while he was at the stadium in Luzhniki during the World Cup final as a guest of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The Russian president took a moment to break away from communication with French President Emmanuel Macron and Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic and took time for the Irish athlete. McGregor wrote on Insta that he considered it the greatest honor to attend the final of the championship as a guest of President Putin.
“Today I was invited to the World Cup final as a guest of Russian President Vladimir Putin. This man is one of the greatest leaders of our time and it was an honor for me to watch the match from his side."
McGregor thanked the Russian president for the excellent hosting of the championship. “Thank you and accept my gratitude for the excellent championship,” he wrote and added in Russian: “Forward Russia!”
As recently as last night, Dee Devlin, McGregor's girlfriend, announced that she was expecting their second child.
