Preparations for Christmas have already begun in the USA and Europe. And Hollywood actress Olivia Wilde is already in a great holiday mood. The famous girl was honored to discover the huge Swarovski star at the very top of the Christmas tree at the Rockefeller Center, New York.

The annual New York Christmas tree opening ceremony is an important tradition dating back to the 1930s during the Great Depression. The festive tree was installed last Friday. Norwegian spruce 22.5 meters high was brought to New York from the town of Mifflinville (USA, Pennsylvania).

The design of the star provides 12 large and small beams of transparent polished glass, encrusted with a total of 25 thousand sparkling crystals. Crystals are glued to the inside of the glass, forming a special “scaly” pattern.

Now installed on the main "Christmas" square in New York, the green beauty is about to find an elegant outfit. Within two weeks, the workers will decorate the tree with a garland, in which there are over 30 thousand multi-colored bulbs, and traditionally they will hoist a giant star, created by Swarovski designers, with a diameter of 2, 7 meters, on the top.

Traditionally, the solemn ceremony of lighting the main Christmas tree takes place on the last day of autumn, November 30. Celebrities are sure to take part in the event - last year the star was lit by Blake Lively.

“It's a great tradition to decorate the tree with a beautiful Swarovski star, so huge and shiny,” Olivia said on the Today TV show. - For me it is not only beauty, it is a part of my childhood. It means a lot, and it is a special honor for me to represent the star."
