It all began with the fact that my friend Tamara hung a large photo of a flying seagull to the left of the front door. Nearby is a photograph of her husband who recently left her. The strange composition was brightly lit by a nice new lamp.

“The main thing,” she explained with inspiration, “is for the bird to fly into the house, and not vice versa.

A friend read all this witchcraft ritual in books on Feng Shui. Tamara took up the art of creating harmony between a person, the objects around him and the energies not so long ago. I sympathetically helped her take out sacks of cracked dishes to the dump, outweigh the mirrors and do other, from my point of view, eccentricities. “Probably the stress of parting with her husband had such an effect on her,” I thought.

About a month later, her husband returned to Tamara. And I thought about Feng Shui.

Of course, one can not believe in the ancient Chinese doctrine of harmonious home improvement. Or you can experiment. If you chose the latter, you can ask your questions to a Feng Shui expert at Cleo. However, I didn’t dare to risk hanging pictures with birds at the front door. Suddenly, indeed, one of the former will return … I decided to study better, which Feng Shui adherents do not recommend to do categorically. Secure your home, so to speak.

Feng Shui for everyone

It turned out that we follow some of the rules, even if we are not followers of Asian traditions.

No dust! In addition to purely hygienic considerations, something else is mixed here - dust accumulates unfavorable energy, which contributes to the appearance of coldness, indifference and boredom in relations.

For this reason, when choosing furniture, it is worthwhile to dwell on such interior items that allow you to maintain ideal cleanliness in the house. This is also taken into account when placing.

There is one more law (perhaps the most basic one) that we try to fulfill, proceeding not from metaphysical, but from everyday needs.

All the trash overboard! Old, no longer functioning items should not be stored in the apartment.

“Dead” things, firstly, slow down the circulation of positive energies. Secondly, they "infect" with apathy, indifference, laziness. The Chinese argue that the development of life is becoming sluggish, events designed to change something are happening slowly. In a word, the effect of a rusty wheel: it barely spins, and even then with a creak.

No water needed

One of the topics that Feng Shui pays special attention to is the relationship between spouses. Here are the recommendations given by the wise Chinese:

1. No water in the bedroom! Whether it's just a painting, a photograph, a decorative fountain or an aquarium.

Water in any form carries the energy of constant movement, change, renewal, expansion of connections. Good energy! But for a different place. By installing aquariums and fountains in the married bedroom, you unwittingly set yourself and your partner to changes in your personal life. Roughly speaking, for treason. The same story can happen when placing an item related to water to the left of the entrance to the bedroom (as viewed from the inside). Or opposite the entrance to the apartment. The reason is the same.

2. There should be one mattress on the bed. Separate mattresses lead to an invisible crack in the relationship.

I wonder what the ancient Chinese would have said about the different bedrooms common in the circles of the European aristocracy? Or about a new model of marriage, when a husband and wife generally live in different houses (cities, countries)?

3. The presence of a mirror in the marital bedroom threatens the appearance of a third party that will destroy the relationship.

This is not just about adultery. The third party can be any people who can interfere with your family happiness: parents, children, friends, ill-wishers … Yes, even a saleswoman from a nearby supermarket!

Watch out, mirror

Mirror in Feng Shui is a separate article altogether. No wonder it has always been considered a mysterious, mystical, almost living thing.

Not only the horror stories of Stephen King are associated with it, but also a number of rules in the science of the "correct" interior.

1. The mirror should not reflect the bed.

According to experts, a long immersion in the world through the looking glass takes a lot of energy from us. Therefore, it is not recommended to look at your reflection for a long time. When a person is asleep, he is completely devoid of any protection, his energy leaves a hundred times faster. Therefore, if you have long been tormented by the question of why you get up in the morning not rested at all, try to move your mirror in such a place so that it does not "look" at the bed.

2. In no case keep cracked mirrors in the house, even small ones.

The mirror has the ability to "remember" what it "saw". Seeing the "cracked" version of what surrounds you, it gives out the same energy outside. Sooner or later, this energy begins to work and … Life is cracking. The well-known bad omen associated with a broken mirror is built on the same principle.

3. The same rule applies to dishes, china knick-knacks and plumbing fixtures.

Cracks on glass, faience, ceramics carry a dangerous energy of destruction. Including family relations. Cracked objects are advised to be carried to a landfill without any pity. Having previously smashed the houses. Breaking dishes is generally very useful; Cleo has already talked about other positive aspects of this activity. Of course, the question arises of how to destroy toilets and bathtubs in modern apartments …

4. Do not keep mirrors with sharp angles in the house.

Rounded mirrors should be preferred. The same applies to furniture. In addition to the risk of injury, sharp corners "exacerbate" the relationship in the family. It is best when the mirror reflects the front door, either into a room or into an apartment. And by hanging it in the hallway or hallway, you can get rid of unpleasant gossip creeping into your home. Worse if the window is reflected. Even worse is the wall.

Modern feng shuists have found out that a TV screen or a computer monitor is the same mirror, but to the outside world. Therefore, everything said above applies to them.

Vindictive plants

Another very controversial interior detail is indoor plants. No matter what designers and doctors say, but if caring for green spaces is a burden for you, it is better to refuse them altogether.

Plants are living things. They feel the attitude towards themselves and, like any living being, returns your feelings to you. If this seems to you nothing more than a fairy tale, read about the research of scientists who, with instruments in hand, proved that plants can get bored, have their own preferences in music, respond to care and even are jealous.

Reeds, feather grass, tumbleweeds cannot be kept in residential premises unambiguously. Neither live nor dried. They are too "freedom-loving", retain and exude energy, provoking to leave the house. Pansies should also be abandoned; they are traditionally planted on graves. It is undesirable to plant climbing plants indoors, although they very effectively decorate the living space. Their "curliness" brings floridness and insincerity to family relationships. They belong on the open balcony.

Freedom in the bedroom

The bedroom, according to the belief of the ancient Chinese, is a symbolic place in the house. This room is given special attention, since sleep is exactly the state when the soul is most receptive to all kinds of energy.

However, even if you are a convinced materialist, you still understand that a bad dream can ruin the life of not only those who believe in Feng Shui. Here are some tips for setting up your bed:

  • no sports-related items;
  • nothing that would remind you of work;
  • no mezzanines, they "put pressure" on the sleeping person;
  • complete order near the bed and at the entrance to the bedroom (trash and a pile of unnecessary things create chaos in the soul and thoughts);
  • the door must open and close freely (this cultivates freedom of thought, action and feeling)
  • do not hang dubious works of art on the bedroom wall (their energy can be both positive and negative)
  • The most favorable yang energy is generated by sunlight, so do not forget to open the curtains in the morning and especially zealously monitor the cleanliness of the windows in the bedroom.

This is just a small part of the area of "feng shui warns." And how many there are all in terms of "Feng Shui recommends"! Some toads in the corners of the rooms are worth something. They say they bring happiness. Or advice to collect land near the house of a rich man and store it in a special place, waiting for the "happy" soil to attract countless treasures to you. I can already see how, overwhelmed by hope, citizens storm the impenetrable fences of the oligarchs … However, having removed the book disorder from the bedside table, I began to sleep much better.
