To make a beautiful plant from seeds, you must follow the following rules:

  • buy primer in the store. The best option would be a sterile, low acidity, neutral substrate. Such requirements are met by a universal soil;
  • buy seeds only from trusted buyers. The seeds must be processed and sealed. This will increase the seed germination process;
  • it is forbidden to sprinkle the seeds with earth on top. It is enough just to squeeze them a little so that the seed begins to open and grow;
  • the container in which the seeds were placed is covered with a film;
  • use of artificial light is mandatory. For Eustoma - light, growth stimulator;
  • diving is done only after the plant has several pairs of leaves;
  • 14 days before planting the shoots in the open ground, accustom the plant to open air. Every day, the container must be taken out to a balcony or other room in the open air and the "hardening" procedure must be carried out;
  • transplanting is carried out in open ground only in previously loosened soil;
  • water the seeds sparingly. In the evening it is worth checking the soil, it should dry out.

When to plant Eustoma for seedlings

Eustoma is a two-year-old flower. When blooming, its buds resemble roses. In order for Eustoma to grow from seeds at home, to bloom in the first year of life, it is important to know not only how to plant correctly, but also when to sow seeds.

The process of transformation of a seed into a stem with leaves is rather long. Most often, planting in open ground is done in April, so you need to start sowing seeds in early January.

From the moment of planting the seeds to the first flowering, at least six months will pass. Therefore, if the plant is planted in March in open ground, then flowers will appear only in August.

In many ways, planting seeds depends on the region of residence. In the southern regions, planting of seeds is possible in November-December. In regions with cold climates, planting of seeds is carried out at a later period.

Ways of planting Eustoma seeds for seedlings

Growing Eustoma from seeds at home is not a difficult process. But it is important to know not only how and when to sow, but also what options can be used by the gardener when planting. When growing, you can use three options for planting seeds. We suggest that you familiarize yourself with each method separately.

Traditional way of sowing seeds

The traditional method of planting seeds involves planting seeds in regular soil.

You need to follow the algorithm:

  • choose a container for planting plants. It must be sterile;
  • pour universal soil into previously prepared containers;
  • moisten the soil from a spray bottle;
  • seeds, in a shell, are laid out in containers and pressed a little;
  • irrigate again from a spray bottle. After wetting, the seeds should not float on the ground. Humidification should be done in moderation;
  • place containers with seeds in a warm place and cover with foil. Be sure to leave a lye for ventilation. Excessive waterlogging should not be allowed.

Planting eustoma in peat tablets

Many gardeners use peat tablets to grow seedlings from seeds. The main advantage in their use, gardeners call convenience. When transplanting seedlings into open ground, the roots are not injured.

Sowing Eustoma seeds is best done in peat tablets with a diameter of no more than 4 cm. The tablets are placed in a small container, which is pre-treated with a solution of potassium permanganate.

After the peat tablets are placed in the container, it is necessary to add water to the bottom so that they gradually swell. In the swollen tablets, you need to make a small indentation with a toothpick or matches. Place one seed at a time in the resulting small funnel.

In the process of growing using peat tablets, quite often you have to face a problem - the stem does not germinate for a long time. If you notice that the seed has swollen, but does not burst, it is required to break the integrity of the shell. Better to use a toothpick or needle for this.

Planting Eustoma with seeds for seedlings step by step

When growing Eustoma at home, it is important to know not only how and when to plant seeds, but also follow an algorithm that will help you grow good seedlings for transplanting into open ground.

  • fill the prepared container with soil, put drainage on the bottom of the container;
  • lightly compact and level the ground;
  • moistening is done before planting seeds or immediately after planting them;
  • using a toothpick or a match, make shallow grooves, the depth of which should be no more than 3 mm. The distance between the grooves is at least 3 cm;
  • the seeds are laid out along the grooves at a distance of at least 1.5 cm, so that during the development of the root system, one stem does not interfere with the other;
  • the grooves with seeds can be sprinkled with river sand. Don't overdo it with sand. The surface of the ground must be visible through the sand;
  • spray the surface. This is important, as the seed coat should get wet;
  • the surface of the container is covered with glass or foil. This will create a mini greenhouse;
  • place the container in a warm, bright place. The air temperature should be at least +21 and not more than +25.

Home care

Regardless of which plant you are growing, you need to know the basic rules of care. Only in this way will the plant grow beautiful, and you can transplant it into open ground.

After you see friendly shoots in the container, you need to rearrange the seedlings to a cooler place. A prerequisite is compliance with the light regime. The plant must be illuminated for at least 16 hours a day.

The maximum air temperature should be no more than +22, and at night no more than +15. If there is dry air in the room, then the seedlings continue to be covered with a film.

Picking

After the plant reaches at least 2 cm in height, and 3-4 full-fledged leaves appear on it, the first pick is carried out. To do this, the day before the planned pick, the container with the seedlings is watered so that later you can easily get the stem out of the ground.

In pre-prepared cups, each stalk with leaves is transplanted separately. You need to choose a deep container for picking, since at the initial stage of development, the root system grows rather quickly.

In order not to carry out the picking procedure, you can immediately plant the seeds in separate containers. And only when the root is quite developed, you can start transplanting into a deeper container.

Pinching Eustoma

For better growth of Eustoma, pinching is used. But you can avoid this procedure if you provide the plant with the required amount of light and the required temperature regime.

If pinching is necessary, remove the top leaves that grow on the stem. But this is only if the plant stretches, and does not turn into a small bush.
