Yesterday, in the Odessa hall of the Renaissance Moscow hotel, the winner among the six finalists of the first and oldest (established in December 1991) Russian independent literary prize Russian Booker was announced. Olga Slavnikova, author of the novel "2017", became the laureate of the 2006 literary prize. The victor will receive twenty thousand dollars, the other five finalists - one thousand each.

The fifteenth jury of the award, in addition to Alexander Kabakov, included critic Dmitry Bak, poet Timur Kibirov, novelist Roman Solntsev, TV presenter Svetlana Sorokina. The long list of awards included 41 works, with a total of 49 novels nominated for the Russian Booker.

The Student Booker Jury also awarded its award to Olga Slavnikova. On the eve of the booker's jury's decision, a round table was held on radio Kultura, in which observers from the Kultura TV channel, Itogi magazine, Kommersant and Rossiyskaya Gazeta took part.
