At the box office of US movie theaters, the lead of the blockbuster "Spider-Man II" came to an end. I, Robot, a science fiction movie starring Will Smith, broke all box office records, grossing $ 53.5 million over the weekend.

According to distributors, this is the fifth super hit of this summer, released by the film company 20th Century Fox. Bruce Snyder, president of Fox's local distribution division, said executives at the film company weren't expecting such an overwhelming success. "If this situation lasts all week, we will beat Smith's previous achievement, Men in Black II."

The plot of the film "I, Robot" is based on the cycle of the same name by Isaac Asimov. The printed original "I, Robot" is a cycle of several stories written by Asimov for various magazines and united by his "Three Laws of Robotics". These laws are as follows:

1) a robot cannot harm a person or, by its inaction, allow harm to be done to a person;

2) the robot must obey the commands of the person, if these commands do not contradict the first law;

3) the robot must take care of its safety as long as it does not contradict the first or second laws.

The motion picture is a futuristic thriller in which a technophobic police officer (Will Smith) investigates a murder allegedly committed by a robot, although this seems impossible under the three laws listed.

"The main point here is that if robots find a way to get around the three laws, nothing can prevent them from taking over because the human race is too dependent on robots and automation," said Hutch Parker, president of 20th Century Fox.

And if in recent years the public has been treating films of this genre with a slight lukewarmness, then, according to the same Snyder: "Smith's participation brought the film a cordiality that is suitable even for elderly ladies." Indeed, the audience of cinemas balls is very wide, both in age and gender.
