The problem is that every litter needs an individual approach. Let's figure out how and what to wash pillows from different fillers.

How to machine wash bamboo pillows

Bamboo fibers are prized for their beneficial properties. They vaguely resemble cashmere, cotton or silk. Some experts believe that washing bamboo-filled pillows is undesirable. They can be used for a certain time, and then it is better to throw them away. For light dirt, dry cleaning can be used. Remember that the fibers are water repellent.

If you intend to wash a bamboo pillow, you must follow these guidelines:

  • washing in the machine is allowed at a temperature of no more than +40 degrees;
  • the filler is best washed using liquid powders. Choose products for delicate fabrics;
  • the pillows should be dried horizontally;
  • it is forbidden to use any bleach;
  • spinning must be discarded.

Bamboo pillows have medicinal properties and should not be dry cleaned. After treatment with reagents, they lose their beneficial effect. The pillows are dried horizontally by turning them regularly. They cannot be rope dried using clothespins. In this case, the fibers can become clumped.

How to wash holofiber pillows in a washing machine

Holofiber bedding withstands any test in a washing machine. For synthetic fibers, a temperature regime of up to 50 degrees is selected. But even at 80 degrees, the filler does not deform or deteriorate. The contents of the pillow do not need to be removed from the pillow case. You can send everything to the machine together.

The filler does not lose its shape, so it can be squeezed out in the machine using low speed. Dry pillows on ropes. After that, the pillow must be fluffed with your hands to straighten the synthetic fibers.

How to machine wash feather pillows

Feathers and down sleeping accessories must not be machine washed. It is better to give the pillows to a special cleaning, where they will be opened and disinfected and dried. If you plan to wash the sleeping accessory yourself, you have to work hard. The entire pillows cannot be washed. Firstly, they have impressive dimensions, and secondly, you can spoil the filler.

Before starting the procedure, it is necessary to open the bedclothes. Their contents are laid out in separate bags (you can use pillowcases). Ideally, down and feathers should be hand washed. But not every housewife is ready for such loads. Therefore, the bags can be loaded into the drum of the automatic washing machine.

Feather pillows and wash on a delicate cycle using liquid products. Dry powders are too aggressive for such fillers. In addition, it is difficult to rinse them out so that no chemical residue remains on the feathers and down. During the washing process, there should be tennis balls in the drum that will prevent the natural filler from getting off. It is better not to use the spin mode (in exceptional cases, spinning up to 500 revolutions is allowed).

After washing, the bags must be hung on a rope so that the glass is water. Feathers and down are dried on a fabric in direct sunlight. The natural filler is laid out in a thin layer, separating the lumps with your hands. After complete drying, the feathers are returned to the naperniki. By the way, the latter also needs to be washed or replaced with a new one.

A streak of wool pillows

The most common fillers are from sheep and camel wool. These pillows often cannot be washed. Periodically, you need to take them out in the sun and dry them in order to destroy the parasites.

Washing camel wool pillows in a washing machine has its own characteristics:

  1. The filler can be washed on a delicate cycle at a temperature not exceeding + 30 degrees.
  2. We recommend using a liquid detergent for woolen fabrics.
  3. You need to add tennis balls to the drum so that the fibers do not get lost.
  4. You cannot squeeze the wool. If the machine does not have a drying mode, you will have to dry it in the sun.

Washing padding polyester

The padding polyester is a synthetic fiber, so it can be washed. But the processing temperature should not exceed +30 degrees. Padding polyester pillows in the washing machine are treated with the addition of a liquid agent. They dry quickly enough, the filler is not demanding to use. The pillows can be hand washed in soapy water.

Swan down pillows

Now you can very rarely find filler made from natural swan down. Modern bedding is made from artificial material. It is called swan down. The filler is made of polyester fibers that look like fluff. During their production, the material is coated with silicone. Because of this, an elastic soft structure is obtained.

Bedding can be washed in the washing machine. Swan fluff tolerates water procedures well at a temperature of no more than +30 degrees on a delicate mode. The special technology for making the filler allows the fibers to recover immediately after washing, remaining soft and fluffy.

Other fillers

There are other pillow fillers that have their own processing characteristics:

  1. It is not recommended to wash pillows with buckwheat husk. They are periodically ventilated and dried in the sun. The contents of the pillow can be sieved twice a month through a colander.
  2. Silk-filled pillows cannot be washed. They are given to dry cleaning. Manufacturers claim that parasites do not grow in silk fibers. It is enough to regularly change pillowcases and dry the pillows in the sun. If the filler contains only 30% silk, it can be machine washed. But spinning is prohibited.
  3. Cotton wool is not the best filler. Such products cannot be washed, since moisture leads to loss of shape. When dirty, cotton pads are knocked out and dried in the sun.
