On January 3, 2008, the famous actor Alexander Abdulov passed away. A talented actor, an extraordinary personality, a loving father, husband and grandfather - this is how the audience, friends, family saw and remembered him. And his colleagues called him "a man of joy." Today is the year since the death of the great actor

In one of his last interviews, Abdulov said: “God knows how long life will be, but how wide it depends on the person” … And he also said: “Every performance is overcoming. Each performance is a conquest. Each painting is also a conquest. Today - one hall, one conquest. The audience will be completely different tomorrow. Our whole profession consists in this. I liked the way my senior friend Leonid Sergeevich Bronevoy said: “No experience saves: you worked for 50 years or graduated from a theater institute yesterday. You are a completely white sheet, a helpless person. These are terrible darkness in which you make your way with horror."

“I want to be remembered as an actor, not as a sex symbol. A legend must always remain a legend."

Recall that Alexander Gavrilovich was hospitalized in August 2007. During filming in Balaklava, near Sevastopol, his stomach ulcer suddenly worsened. The actor was immediately operated on. A few days later he was transported to Moscow, and then he went to Israel for a consultation. There he was diagnosed with lung cancer.

Doctors tried to save him for several months, the hope for a miracle did not leave Abdulov and his relatives. But alas …

Shortly before leaving, Abdulov indignantly flipped through the yellow press, which was full of headlines about his illness, and wearily remarked: “They will write about the wedding, then about the treatment! My personal life haunts journalists. There really is a beloved woman in my life. That's all I can tell them. I want to be remembered as an actor, not as a sex symbol. A legend must always remain a legend."
