The holiday season will begin very soon, but the coronavirus epidemic is making its own adjustments to the summer plans of Russian residents. All overseas trips have been canceled for the near future. What is known about domestic tourism? Will it be possible to go to the sea in Russia due to the coronavirus?
Predictions for the coming summer
The coronavirus raging in Europe and Asia may attract an additional flow of tourists to Russian resorts. But tour operators are skeptical about this. Fearing contracting a coronavirus infection, many Russians will rest in the country's inland resorts this summer.
This year, the number of Russian tourists in Crimea and the resorts of the Krasnodar Territory may increase by 15% amid closed borders and the inability to travel to other countries due to the coronavirus.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko said that the resorts in the south of the country could be opened this summer for domestic tourism, but only if the epidemiological situation improves.
“As soon as we see that the number of COVID-19 cases in Russia has begun to decline, some regions will begin to gradually reduce restrictions. Only then will the citizens of the country be able to go on vacation,”the official said.
Transport
As in the previous year, it will be possible to get to the previously chosen vacation spot by plane or train. To date, the Russian authorities do not prohibit the transportation of citizens. But in many regions of the country, due to the epidemic, most flights were canceled.
But already from June 1, some flights should be resumed. For example, AZUR air is planning to soon launch flights to Krasnodar Territory and Crimea. True, in the first few weeks, planes will fly only from the following cities:
- Moscow;
- St. Petersburg;
- Kazan;
- Yekaterinburg;
- Ufa.
Flights from the capital will be operated every day, and from other cities - only twice a week. But then the question arises: will the residents of the southern regions want to receive tourists from other cities of Russia, where the number of infected people is greater than theirs? For example, on the territory of the Krasnodar Territory, quarantine has been extended until May 23, and more accurate data will appear after this period.
It is also not yet known whether tests for the presence of COVID-19 will be carried out at airports before the trip. These moments are currently being decided by local authorities.
Rospotrebnadzor recommends wearing protective gloves and masks on planes and trains. The on-board first-aid kits will be equipped with sanitizers and protective equipment, and the air will be filtered with special anti-infective systems.
Crimea
It is not yet known whether it will be possible to go to the sea in Russia in the summer due to the coronavirus, but the authorities of the peninsula are preparing to welcome tourists. In the meantime, Crimea is closed until May 31. A checkpoint was set up specifically to check those entering the Crimean bridge.
Only those who live in the territory of Crimea or who have real estate there can move along this highway. The rest of the arrivals are placed in a two-week quarantine.
It is expected that the restriction regime in Crimea will be lifted in early June. But at first, tourists will be allowed only to sanatoriums and hotels that have a special medical license. With such permission, people with coronavirus will be provided with appropriate medical care.
Krasnodar region
The resorts of Gelendzhik, Sochi, Anapa and other cities, according to experts, should first of all be opened for Russian tourists. So far, the quarantine in these cities is valid until May 23 and, most likely, will be extended until June 1.
Many tour operators have started selling tours to the resorts of the Krasnodar Territory. But to date, the regional authorities have not yet fully determined the rules of stay for vacationers.
According to some reports, it will be possible to get to the territory of the resorts in only two ways: to fly on a special sanatorium-resort card to the previously selected sanatorium, or to undergo strict quarantine for two weeks. In the first case, vacationers will not be allowed to leave the territory of the sanatorium.
Such restrictions will make it difficult to visit the beaches and make it impossible to see local attractions. Since the epidemiological situation in the country is changing very quickly, it is likely that the authorities will be able to make a final decision on whether it will be possible to go to the sea in Russia in the summer due to coronavirus, closer to June.
Summarize
- Due to the coronavirus epidemic, most Russian tourists will rest in the resorts of the Krasnodar Territory and in the Crimea.
- Flights should resume from June 1, but at first the planes will fly only from several major cities of the country: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Kazan, Ufa.
- The Crimean peninsula is officially closed until May 31, but the authorities are already preparing to welcome tourists.
- It will be possible to get to the resorts of the Krasnodar Territory after observation for two weeks or fly by using a special health resort card.
