Kanye West proclaimed himself "the greatest rock star of our time"

Rapper Kanye West is definitely not overly humble. Over the weekend, the artist gave a concert at the famous Glastonbury Music Festival and was pleased to announce to the public that he is "the greatest rock star of our time." The audience did not argue.

In the spring, the announcement of Kanye's performance at the most popular music festival caused quite heated discussions. The regulars of the festival were unhappy and even started collecting signatures in order to remove West from the list of headliners. “Kanye West is an insult to music lovers all over the world. We spend a lot of money and wait for a certain level of entertainment,”the rapper's opponents were indignant. But in the end, Kanye performed and, according to music critics, performed excellently.

West lit up on stage for about two hours, played a set of his old and new compositions, performed several songs in a duet with singer Justin Vernon (lead singer of the American indie folk group Bon Iver), and at the end of the show performed the famous "Bohemian Rhapsody" (Bohemian Rhapsody) by Queen.

The Dalai Lama also delighted visitors to the festival on Sunday. The spiritual leader of Tibet addressed the audience from the stage and recalled the importance of love, tolerance and forgiveness in resolving conflicts, including those in Syria and Iraq. The Dalai Lama also noted that he noticed a positive attitude of the majority of the audience at the festival. “This is a celebration of people, this is how it should be, and not as an event for politicians,” he said.

During the concert, West called himself "the greatest rock star of our time" and also confessed his love for his wife Kim Kardashian and the assembled audience.

The Glastonbury Music Festival has been held since 1970 and is traditionally considered the main musical event in Great Britain and one of the largest in the world. At various times, Kasabian, The Rolling Stones, Radiohead, Coldplay, Oasis, Gorillaz, U2 and Moby became its headliners. According to the organizers, this year the event was attended by over 175 thousand spectators.
