Blue jeans, white shirt, pencil skirt, pumps - everyone knows the rules of a basic wardrobe. But what about accessories and jewelry? Are there the same convenient and understandable rules for jewelry must-haves?

Experts from the Russian jewelry brand "Adamas" spoke about a few simple recommendations, following which you will always look stylish and appropriate.

Rule # 1. If your ears are pierced, earrings are required

The first rule is dictated by our own body: if you have pierced ears, then you need to wear earrings. Pierced ears without them leave a feeling of untidiness, incompleteness. Earrings made of precious metals are best suited for permanent wear, they do not cause allergies. And you can experiment with the shape of jewelry: a lot depends on hair color, face shape, neck length, hairstyle, etc.

But if there is no time and energy for experiments, then the most suitable earrings for all times are studs with diamonds or other transparent stones, for example, cubic zirconia. The shine of even a small stone will refresh the look and add sparkle to the eyes.

Pay close attention to the shape and size of your earrings if you wear glasses. Glasses are very capricious in the selection of "partners" for the image. Most often, in this case, it is a small diamond or other stone that is the best solution.

Rule # 2. Mix and match! How to match rings?

It is very good when you have several different rings in your wardrobe, this allows you to combine them in different ways. But how exactly?

Traditionally, it is believed that at least three jewelry on one hand can be afford. But modern fashion is so eclectic and so provocative! Some women of fashion know how to wear seven rings competently and tastefully. How to be? The easiest way is to keep a few simple points in focus:

  • One hand, one story. Make sure that all rings are connected with one understandable idea: shape, color or motif. If something stands out from the general story, it is better to shoot the unnecessary.
  • One hand is one focus of attention. Be careful with large, bright, status rings. They do not tolerate competition, they need an entourage. Thin graceful paths of stones or gold in the same style as the main decoration will always successfully set off and support it.
  • Be careful with the colors of the inserts. The more colored stones on one hand, the more difficult your image is for perception. Gypsy chic, carnival, ethnicity are very popular images, but if your whole outfit is designed in a completely different style, then you need to be careful with the color. Yet rings are only an accessory that supports your image, not shapes it.
  • But you can play with metal and its shades! Remember, our moms made sure that the watch and the wedding ring were the same shade of gold? So now stylists see a special chic in the fact that white gold rings are combined with rings and bracelets made of pink and yellow. A certain lightness, freedom is felt in this. Wear and mix different colors of metal, silver and gold, yellow and pink rings side by side - and you will never look like a boring bank clerk.

Rule # 3. What to wear around your neck?

A classic Jacqueline Kennedy string of pearls is, of course, very good. But in all honesty, are there many modern looks that still live up to the formality of pearls?

Or, for example, a cross or any other religious symbol? An extremely difficult topic in today's multicultural and constantly moving world. For example, in many European countries, parading religious symbols is generally prohibited by law.

What to do with the décolleté area? Follow the shape of the neckline and … combine, match, match.

As with rings, layering is in vogue. Several pendants on one chain, several elegant chains of different lengths with overlapping stones and symbols … Modern fashion is playful and childish. It now demands from us not only the seriousness of a pearl string, but also imagination and courage. The modern image best of all reveals the image of an active, open to the world, free young woman, self-confident. Nevertheless, pearls are elegance in one detail.

Rule # 4. A wrist watch is a decoration

Wristwatches are the main accessory of the past. A status gift, an expensive souvenir, alone and for life? Forget it! They have become different long ago.

Fashionable watches are now much more affordable, more varied and … more capricious. You cannot go in the same hours to the tennis court and social reception, with the child to the zoo and to the interview. It would be nice to have several different ones and wear them to suit the mood and situation. And yes, a watch is just a watch, something beautiful, bright, supporting the color and style of rings and bracelets. Treat them like a fun game, not an investment for life.

Rule # 5. Flora and fauna must be friends

Yes, layering is on trend. But we hope you don’t think that the Leo horoscope pendant will look good next to a bunny pendant or, even worse, with a cross?

Be vigilant to see if your pendants are friends with each other! If you are crazy about a graceful panther, "support" it with an elegant branch or precious stone.

Do you have a cute ladybug? A chamomile pendant is better suited to her than an orchid. The moon is friends with the stars, butterflies with flowers, symbols with other symbols.

Jewelry companies now offer whole lines of matching small and trendy pendants. Choose one series that best suits your idea of beauty and follow it.

Rule # 6. Alternation rule instead of the rule of three

The “rule of three” - things, flowers, jewelry - did not justify itself. It is much clearer and easier to follow the rule of alternation: light with dark, bright with discreet, avant-garde with classic. The same principle applies in the jewelry wardrobe: if you put on large status earrings, then you do not need to wear a necklace, if there is a necklace, then a brooch will be superfluous, if there are bracelets and a watch on one hand, then it is better to put rings on the other hand.

What else does this rule give us? Unfortunately, the death of jewelry sets or sets, so popular only 10 years ago. A woman putting on a complete set of earrings-necklace-rings and bracelets, made in one stone and design, immediately stylistically falls out of the fashionable context.

As the furniture in the room should be combined, relate to the same style and color scheme, so the decorations should now exactly match, but in no case be the same.

Rule # 7. Diamonds are always "Yes!" And age does not matter

It's good that the days when a girl received the first diamonds as a gift after marriage, and before that she was decorated with "innocent" corals, turquoise and carnelian, have passed. Now a young fairy shines with diamonds at a fashionable party, and a beautiful, well-groomed lady in her age is happy to wear bright and expressive semi-precious stones. And they are both absolutely right. To be a girl or a lady, a lady or a robber, a businesswoman or a rock star is everyone's personal choice and no longer depends on age.
