"Tomorrow I am arriving in Paris. Don't wash yourself!" - wrote the famous Corsican lover to his wife Josephine, confirming that most of human relationships, especially sexual ones, take place on an unconscious level, and smell plays a significant impulsive role in this.

Smell is the first of the senses that a person has in the process of evolution; its centers are located in that part of the brain that is responsible for emotions and sexual behavior. Therefore, fragrances are able to control a person's mood and reactions. In addition, it has been proven that we choose our partners not by appearance or intelligence, but focusing on the sense of smell. Even the ladies of the European Middle Ages, knowing about the stimulating effect of the natural body odor, smeared their juices, like perfume, on the skin behind the ears and on the neck to attract the attention of the desired object. If you dig even deeper, then one of the ancient Roman sages thought: "The best scent of a woman is her natural scent, when she no longer smells of anything." Already today in England a movement of men has risen against the use of deodorants by women (by the way, the male nose is more susceptible to odors). Spiritual leaders and supporters of the movement have put forward demands to stop the production of these fragrant hygiene products, arguing that the smell of deodorant destroys the natural, individual body odor, which, incidentally, is as unique as fingerprints. Thus, it becomes impossible to make the right choice of life partner, girlfriend. The natural odor of the body (especially the genitals) is a strong aphrodisiac (aphrodisiac), it is not for nothing that there is a tribe in Africa, in which, to this day, spouses are chosen only based on the sense of smell. And according to ethnological scientists, they almost never get divorced.

The scent, like the outfit, the style of behavior, the hairstyle, emphasizes the originality and uniqueness of the charm of every woman. It should be remembered that a pleasant smell depends primarily on personal hygiene. And heavy sweating occurs, as a rule, under the armpits. Therefore, it is never advised to moisten areas of the body with excessive sweating with perfume in order to avoid skin irritation or the appearance of various rashes. The pungent smell of sweat is practically impossible to neutralize with aromatic substances. Protein compounds that make up the secretions of sweat glands are deposited on the hair growing under the armpits, and gradually decompose, impregnating them with a pungent pungent odor.

In total, there are between two and three million sweat glands in the human body, which supply the surface of the skin with moisture day and night to prevent overheating of the body. Therefore, sweating is primarily a protective function, and its complete blockage can lead to undesirable consequences.

There are two types of sweat glands. Eccrine glands evenly distributed throughout the body, but there are many of them in the armpits, palms, feet and chest. They react to any change in temperature, both of the organism itself and of the environment. Apocrine sweat glands ("odor glands") are located exclusively in the armpits, around the nipples, navel and genitals. They only respond to emotional stimuli, that is, stress, joy, pain, or sexual arousal. The sweat of a healthy person, which is 90 percent water, is odorless. Even the apocrine glands emit a pleasant, individual scent for each person. He begins to actively "smell" under the influence of microorganisms that "live" in the excretory ducts of the sebaceous glands: bromobacteria and diphtheroids. This produces foul-smelling fatty acids and protein degradation products. The isovaleric acid in sweat enhances the odor and makes it more persistent.

Sweat released in heat or during exercise is odorless in itself and acquires it only when mixed with apocrine secretions. The process of the formation of an unpleasant smell occurs instantly, and therefore, in a hot season, our whole life obeys the slogan - everything is to fight microorganisms!

A woman who wants to eliminate the source of an unpleasant odor should shave her armpit hair daily (for some it is useful to do this even several times a day), after which it is necessary to rinse these places with warm water and soap. And then resort to the help of special chemicals produced by industry.

Before combating perspiration, you should exclude the presence of any disease (for example, diabetes mellitus), a symptom of which may be a characteristic sweat odor. An intense odor can be caused by hormonal imbalances or improper metabolism. Often, excessive sweating is associated with chronic fatigue syndrome and neurosis, diseases of the autonomic nervous system. In some cases, treatment with drugs that affect the secretion of the sweat glands is required. Pay attention to your clothes. Sweat absorbed into the fabric decomposes in the same way as on the skin. Enjoy spices and coffee in moderation: these foods promote increased sweating. It should also be borne in mind that the smell of sweat is especially felt when a person experiences nervous overload, irritation fear … (he inherited this ability from his four-legged ancestors - animals, by the way, this mechanism performs a defensive function), which once again confirms the need to take a bath or shower twice a day (especially in the summer) and certainly after the stressful experiences. I would like to note once again that the aroma of fresh female sweat emanating from smooth and washed armpits is a pleasant and attractive scent that has the same erotically teasing effect on a partner, like all other natural smells that appear at the time of sexual arousal. This smell plays a big role in love!

The first attempts to create a remedy for the smell of sweat were made, paradoxically, by men. In ancient Rome, representatives of the strong half of humanity tried to somehow repulse the "extraneous" amber. For these purposes, they used bags of pleasant-smelling herbs, placing them under the armpits.

But the first deodorant was regular soda. It neutralized the acidic environment necessary for bacteria to live. Later, they began to use pastes with aluminum salts to close the sweat glands, and the feet and palms were treated with a solution of formic acid or a decoction of oak bark. It was oak broth that became the first antiperspirant. And only at the end of the 19th century, the progenitors of modern deodorants appeared in the United States, designed to give the whole world a scent of freshness.

The composition of deodorants includes bactericidal and disinfecting additives. The main bacteriostatics used in cosmetology are triclosan and farnesol. Triclosan - a very effective, but aggressive substance in relation to the skin flora, many experts believe that its use is more harmful than useful, since it inhibits the natural protective microflora. Farnesol acts much milder, it has established itself as a gentle agent in relation to friendly microorganisms. It is a natural bacteriostatic found in natural essential oils. Aromatic substances, chitosan (seafood) and alcohol, also contained in most deodorants as a solvent and causing irritation of some types of skin, have bactericidal properties (alcohol kills bacteria on the spot, but not for long, and plus everything else also dries the skin). In addition to bacteriostatics, aluminum and zinc salts are used in the composition of deodorants, which help to narrow the excretory ducts of the sweat glands and reduce perspiration by 50 percent. action, form a protective film (like chitosan) or stabilize the epidermis (like allantoin). Undoubtedly, a modern deodorant must have a high deodorant activity and at the same time take care of the skin. The additives destroy microorganisms, along with which the unpleasant odor disappears. You sweat as usual, but there is no smell.

The effectiveness of a deodorant depends on the activity and concentration of additives, as well as on the type: lotion, aerosol, pencil, stick, powder, cream. The choice of product depends on your desire, skin sensitivity and the degree of perspiration.

Delicate emulsion creams and talcum powder

More suitable for very sensitive skin. Some of them contain substances that not only eliminate the strong smell of sweat, but also protect against fungal infections and bacteria. Another plus - creams do not leave white spots on clothes. If you have the prospect of spending the day in clothes made of lightweight fabrics, then it is better to give preference to powder or talcum powder.

By the way, our grandmothers also used this method, using baby powder for this. True, the deodorizing effect of bulk products is somewhat weaker. Powder (talc) perfectly absorbs sweat, preventing clothes from sticking to the body. It is used, of course, after a shower, but before applying it is necessary to wipe the skin well. If the talc (powder) contains bactericidal additives or aluminum salts, the drug can simultaneously serve as both a deodorant and an antiperspirant. But keep in mind that talc and powder are not suitable for very dry skin.

Antiperspirants

They suspend the process of sweating, but they practically do not destroy microbes. Sweat continues to be produced without getting to the surface of the skin. A similar effect is caused by the organic compounds of aluminum or zinc, which are part of the composition, which actively tan the skin, thicken the epidermis and close the excretory ducts of the sebaceous glands. Antiperspirants should not be used in situations where you sweat profusely. Sweat, without coming to the surface, can cause severe swelling of the armpit. Therefore, in such "extreme" cases, it is better to use deodorants.

Antiperspirants in "pure" form are sometimes found on the market, but they are not widely used. Antiperspirants are used in the morning, after a shower, and only on limited areas of the body (legs, armpits). But it is better not to abuse such funds and use only once a day.

They come in the form of aerosols, sticks, balls, pastes, creams, and so on. Today there are antiperspirant creams that can only be used once a week. But you need to know how to use them: they are applied after a shower at night, since it takes time to suppress the bacterial flora. However, you should use them carefully; the natural microflora can suffer, which threatens much more serious troubles than the smell. You should not use an antiperspirant before exercising on simulators and other intense physical activity, as well as before a bath. All these activities are accompanied by excessive sweating and blockage of the excretory function can really lead to undesirable consequences.

And the main thing to remember is that none of the products should be applied to inflamed or damaged skin - you can read about this on any bottle. Never use antiperspirant on your back, chest, feet or forehead. The overwhelming majority of antiperspirant antiperspirants on the market are antiperspirant deodorants.

Antiperspirant deodorants

These are modern compositions that contain bacteriostatics, an antiperspirant component and sometimes a perfume composition. As a result of use, a triple effect is carried out: blockage of the excretory ducts of the sweat glands; destruction of microorganisms or suspension of their vital activity due to bacteriostatic; imparting aroma due to the perfume composition.

It should be recognized that the form of antiperspirant deodorant is the most optimal and effective. In such formulations, due to the triple effect, it is possible to avoid an overdose of components, and, consequently, a negative effect on the skin and sweat glands. Aluminum hydrochloride has antiperspirant and antibacterial properties, and is widely used as an active ingredient in antiperspirant deodorants. It is non-irritating and can be used even for sensitive skin.

Perfumed deodorants

As a rule, they contain alcohol in high concentration and do not include disinfectants, bactericidal additives, therefore they cope with our unpleasant odor only for a short time. Perfumed deodorants are recommended for those who sweat moderately and do not have a very pronounced individual odor. For those who suffer from a pronounced odor, it is better to refuse such products, otherwise the smells will mix and such a composition will give the opposite effect. There is one more "but": it is better not to use perfumed deodorants in hot weather (on the beach): aromatic additives can increase the sensitivity of the skin to the sun's rays.

It is very delicate to combine perfumed deodorants with perfume or eau de toilette. It is not worth using everything together, even if the direction of the smell is the same for all products. Perfumed deodorant is good for summer instead of perfume. Most often they are available as aerosols and sprays.

However, sweat is still a necessary function of our body. If we sweat, then we live. Nature created man as a unique self-regulating system.

Our body is 75 percent liquid and has an amazing ability to maintain its own temperature and remove toxic metabolic products through sweat. Incredibly, wet armpits, in a sense, even save our lives!
