Video: How the coronavirus got to Italy

The development of the pandemic is in full swing, and the world community is looking for answers to who is to blame and who benefits from it. The opinions of experts on how the coronavirus got to Italy are ambiguous and contradictory.
The current situation in Italy and many questions
The country has confidently bypassed rivals in the deplorable anti-rating of the incidence of coronavirus in Europe, and in the world lists it is second only to the United States of America in terms of the number of infected. The total number of infected people in Italy is already 97,689.
The number of those who recovered (13030) exceeded the number of deaths by a third. Mortality from SARS-CoV-2 in this European country with a long history, the center of the birth of modern civilization, has reached numbers roughly comparable to Congo or the Cayman Islands. About 11.04% of patients died during the development of the epidemic.
They are trying to explain the high mortality rate by the average age of Italians (47, 5 years), although it has now been found that this is not the main criterion. In the United States and Russia, it is 38 years old, and in Ukraine, the main percentage of infected people is not among the elderly, but among able-bodied people - from 31 to 45 years old.
The reasons for the formation of global clusters of the spread of infection in Italy, Iran, the United States of America are sought in insufficiently vigorous measures taken by governments, low levels of health care, and ignoring China's experience in preventive and quarantine measures.
Against the background of stabilized rates of new infections and deaths, the media are looking for an answer whether the peak of the epidemic in Italy has passed, or is it a temporary respite caused by the help of the PRC, Russia, Cuba and Venezuela. Previously, the question of how the coronavirus got to Italy and why it acquired such a fatal prevalence and inevitability has now again become the subject of study, hypotheses, conjectures, accusations.
Epidemiologists are sure that the infection was introduced during the mass events. Profit from the main branches of income took precedence over basic security measures.
Patient Zero: Theory and Quest
In Spain, the culprit of the SARS-CoV-2 outbreak was immediately discovered. It turned out to be a German citizen returning from a vacation on one of the islands belonging to the kingdom.
In China, the seafood market was named the epicenter of the infection, and in the neighboring countries - those who arrived from Wuhan, market employees or their relatives.
In Russia, David Berov, a footballer who arrived from Italy, who has repeatedly voluntarily passed tests for coronavirus and received different results (mostly negative), is named almost officially patient zero.
How the new type of pneumonia got to Italy remains unclear:
- A Chinese couple who came to see local attractions and a local citizen evacuated from the epicenter of the pandemic could hypothetically be attributed to potential sources. If not for one circumstance - they ended up in the country before February 21, where they underwent treatment and recovered safely.
- A patient from Cordogno, hospitalized with suspected coronavirus due to communication with a friend who returned from China, had a banal flu.
- The Italian cluster of infection - 11 cities in Lombardy and Veneto, also does not give a specific answer as to how the insidious infection got there. The Emilio Romagna authorities are confident that it spread from Lombardy.
- The source (but not patient zero) is the hospital in Cordogno (the first patient who died in Italy from coronavirus came to the hospital, where she underwent a postmortem analysis).
- They also point to the emergency department in the town of Casalpusterlengo. However, these were only medical care centers, where already ill patients applied.
- A professor from Philadelphia suggests that the search for patient zero will be unsuccessful as long as they focus on later dates. Enrico Bucci is confident that the coronavirus was already in Italy in mid-December. This circumstance is indicated by press reports on the simultaneous treatment in Piacenza of more than 40 people diagnosed with pneumonia. There are reports about this in the local press, journalists expressed their legitimate surprise at this strange fact.
A recent retrospective study confirms the presence of infection much earlier than February, but justifies doctors who did not have criteria for diagnosing an unknown disease. The Italian authorities tried to accuse the hospital staff in Cordogno of non-compliance with the protocol, but these charges were rejected indignantly.
Who is to blame for the tragedy
Considering how the coronavirus got into the red zone, many are inclined to blame the Chinese communities in the northern regions for the infection. However, there are other opinions: European countries had economic interests in Hubei province and it is quite possible that one of the businessmen who traveled there became the source of the infection.
It is not excluded that it will be brought in by tourists in the latent period, who came en masse to the open events held in the country.
By and large, the WHO should be blamed, which ignored the alarming messages from China and decided at the beginning of the epidemic that the situation did not pose a particular danger, since the outbreak was localized. Later they corrected their mistake, but this did not give the desired result.
Summarize
- Patient zero in Italy has not been established.
- It is assumed that the source may have been Chinese from the communities.
- Tourists from different countries are accused.
- There are assumptions about the import of the pathogen by foreign citizens.
- There is no evidence for any of the charges.
