The current law provides for the possibility of flexible introduction of amendments and changes to the regulation on the use of state license plates to simplify the process of vehicle registration. One of the significant amendments in 2020 was the extension of the vehicle registration deadline from 10 to 90 days.

The new Federal Law of the Russian Federation No. 283 came into force in 2018.
