Actors of the Yermolova theater complain about mass layoffs by Oleg Menshikov

Oleg Menshikov has been directing the Yermolova Theater for 9 years. At the very beginning, the actor completely headed the institution, and now he has moved to the position of artistic director.

Before going on summer vacation, the artists began to write a statement. At the same moment, it became clear that they were not just going to rest. They are being fired.

Of the 90 people announced in the troupe, 22 artists lost their jobs. They are all unhappy with this state of affairs. One of the ladies, who was affected by the dismissal, agreed to talk to reporters. In a conversation with representatives of Komsomolskaya Pravda, she explained that Menshikov systematically squeezed out many artists.

Initially, there was a reduction in the repertoire, during which the artists were deprived of additional earnings and remained on a bare salary of 20-30 thousand rubles. Menshikov stated that he could not do anything about it.

At the same time, the director invited new young actors to the theater. Most of them are not known to the general audience, but on the sidelines they were nicknamed Menshikov's favorites.

Oleg Evgenievich entered into fixed-term contracts with them. The fee stated in them was several times higher than that of permanent artists.

Now, when deciding to dismiss, managers began to refer to the difficult financial situation and the inability to support those who do not take part in the performances.

They did not touch the oldest artists. Basically, those who gave the theater more than 15 - 20 years of their lives fell under dismissal. Many of them were due to retire in a few years. A parent with many children suffered - the father of four children. He was also fired, not considering his marital status.

Artists do not intend to leave everything just like that. They have already applied to the union with a request to protect their interests. If the union does not help, the actors are ready to go to court to defend justice. Looking at the fees of the invited actors, they do not believe that the theater is really experiencing financial difficulties.
