The delicate issue of surrogate motherhood has been discussed by Russian society for many years. While representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church are categorically against this method of procreation, politicians are pondering who and in what cases can use the services of surrogate mothers.

According to the press, the State Duma is currently preparing a draft law regulating this issue. The document is planned to be presented for discussion in spring. Philip Kirkorov, one might say, was lucky. According to the new draft law, only “ordinary” couples (a man and a woman, whether they are married or not) or single women, but not same-sex male couples or single men, will be able to use the services of surrogate mothers.

"The desire of a man to use the method of surrogacy is primarily justified by the desire to satisfy his reproductive rights, and not to overcome infertility, which is unacceptable," - quoted by "Rossiyskaya Gazeta" the developers of the law.

Recall that now Kirkorov is raising a son and daughter, who were born thanks to a surrogate mother.

In addition, it is proposed to introduce a limit on the number of “ordered” births for surrogate mothers. The rate of the secret of birth is introduced, similar to the rate of the secret of adoption. In addition to medical indicators, future parents will be presented with rather strict socio-economic requirements.

But the most curious thing is that parents will not be allowed to choose the sex of the unborn child. An exception will be those cases when there is a risk of transmission of hereditary diseases associated with one or another sex.

By the way, according to a recent poll by VTsIOM, just over a quarter of Russian citizens consider surrogate motherhood to be morally unacceptable. Every second person is sure that surrogate mothers are doing an important and necessary job.
