Europeans prefer to do plastic surgery in Russia

According to the observations of foreign sociologists, the craze for plastic surgery is gradually declining. According to statistics, the demand for various procedures for correcting appearance in clinics in Europe and the United States is no longer showing rapid growth, from which the pros concluded that the fashion for "tuning" is passing. But it seems that the specialists have not entirely correct data. The fact is that some of those who want to improve their appearance now turn to Russian professionals.

Having analyzed the status of requests for their services over the past six months, experts from the international plastic surgery center The Platinental Aesthetic Lounge have found a noticeable increase in the number of patients from abroad.

“Russian-speaking migrants from Europe, Asia began to turn to us more, and there are also patients from Los Angeles,” said Andrei Iskornev, president of The Platinental clinic. - On the one hand, the USA is a mecca of plastic surgery, but on the other hand, the situation with minimally invasive technologies is not very good there. In addition, now in Russia the prices for aesthetic medicine are lower: a thread lift in the United States costs 5 thousand dollars, in our country - 2-3 thousand dollars. Of course, there is no persistent trend for plastic in Russia yet; Brazil and South Korea are still leading in this direction."

According to the pros, on average, the total number of inquiries in the field of plastic surgery has grown by 40% since November 2014.

Moreover, the most popular procedure remains the correction of the shape of the breast, followed by rhinoplasty, blepharoplasty, circular facelift (facelift), facial prosthetics with various porous implants (chin lengthening, highlighting the cheekbone zone). There is a fairly high demand for liposuction, lipomodeling procedures, as well as minimally invasive technologies.

“Plastic surgery in Russia began to develop only in the last 5-6 years, and the specialty“plastic surgeon”itself appeared three or four years ago,” notes Iskornev. - Before that, either maxillofacial surgeons, or microsurgeons, or general surgeons practiced in this area of medicine. Moreover, there have been many scams associated with plastic surgery. Now the situation is beginning to change for the better, and, accordingly, the qualifications of specialists in this area are growing. In particular, at the moment, a good level of professional retraining has been organized in the Russian Federation: plastic surgeons undergo not a two-year, but a five-year retraining program, as is practiced in the United States."
