Post-New Year Depression: What to Do?

It would seem, what could be better than holidays, rest, almost two weeks long? After a good rest and work should be good. However, in most cases, the exact opposite happens: work does not go, some even begin to get depressed. What's the matter? Let's look at the main points that can be attributed to the "post-holiday syndrome", and try to figure out how to deal with them.

Body and rhythm. To be completely honest, few people are satisfied with the mode of operation 5 days a week from 9-10 in the morning. If in the warm season for many people such a schedule is more or less acceptable, then in winter it is much more difficult to transfer. There is little sun in our latitudes, a person's activity naturally decreases, therefore a person as a whole gets tired more in winter and is inclined to wake up later. It is especially difficult for "owls", for whom "Sovism" is exacerbated in winter. As a result, during the holidays, a person often switches to his own internal regime. And often he wakes up later and later. The schedule often shifts towards night, and an abrupt change in the schedule, if necessary, to return to a working rhythm leads to a rigid resistance of the psyche. Very often, such a change in the schedule is accompanied by a strong deterioration in mood, apathy, difficulty concentrating, and memory problems. To abruptly pull oneself out of "hibernation" is stress for the psyche, from which it defends itself, trying, under any pretexts, to slow down the "seething activity" until the onset of a brighter season, or at least until the moment when the adaptive mechanisms (which in this case, motivation, interest in work can be considered). In order for motivation to work faster, it is worth helping the body at the physical level.

Depression - What To Do? First of all, if you have a 10-day vacation, try not to lie in bed until lunch for the last 2-3 days, but gradually "move forward" to the previous schedule. Then the first day on the job won't be such a nightmare.

It is also worth investing time in activities to increase activity. For some, this is a sport. For some - walks in the fresh air, for some, cultural entertainment is more suitable. Work with the body is a very strong help: massage, sauna, spa. For those who have no contraindications, there is a solarium. It is worth planning such events not only at the end of the vacation, but also for the first couple of weeks of work - they will help to adapt.

Internal conflict. If you have done all of the above, and the motivation is still silent and you do not want to work to the point of nausea, then the long vacation has exposed some deeper conflict. Often it is a long break in work that helps you realize its importance, necessity, or its radical rejection by your inner mental structures.

It's simple. What we like and interest in will somehow make us move. What you don't like will put even more pressure on the psyche, coupled with physical difficulties. In our time of crisis, you can often hear: “Yes, I understand everything, but I can’t do anything, where can I get another job?”

What to do? To begin with, admit to yourself that this is not "just blues." Many people continue to lie to themselves, persuading themselves, they say, everything is not so bad, it can be worse. But the subconscious mind is difficult to deceive.

And cultivating internal conflict is still a dead-end path. To begin with, you should think about what is good in your work, and what, on the contrary, is most annoying. What helps you to come to terms with the state of affairs, and what hinders. And then, based on the information received, try to focus your attention and activities on the positive aspects. And if you really understand that you are doing an unloved business or in an unloved place, let the beginning of the new year serve as an impetus for your search. After all, you still have to search, a person cannot press himself forever, one way or another, sooner or later, the subconscious pushes him to the implementation of deep scenarios. And don't immediately tell yourself that "everything is useless." The road will be mastered by the walking one.

Emotions. Surely, if you were preparing for the holidays, then in your family and among your friends there were a lot of good emotions on the holidays. And now it was all over. Weekdays have come. Gifts are no longer given, warm words are not spoken. Why exactly? Have you ever wondered why you personally stop saying warm words to your loved ones and giving gifts?

How are your first days at work?

Excellent, I missed my studies!
Normally, I am slowly getting involved in work.
So-so: I will not get involved in business in any way.
Horror! I do not want to work!

What to do? Try to follow this example. Of course, efforts are needed to maintain such a family ideology. But why not continue the holiday to the best of your ability?

Excessiveness. But it's better not to continue the holiday like this. Delicious food and even expensive alcoholic beverages have their own quantitative measure, and if you exceed it, the holiday will cease to be such.

Now you know the answer to the question: "I have depression, what to do?"So tune in to the positive and fight the blues.
