Are you on a diet, trying not to think about food, but "bad" thoughts keep getting into your head? In such cases, British scientists recommend remembering the last meal. According to them, this way you can kill your appetite.

British scientists conducted a study, the results of which showed that appetite is suppressed when a person remembers the last meal. In addition, experts have found that concentration on food while eating helps to reduce hunger in the future, and watching TV while eating leads to an early desire to eat.

According to Dr. Suzanne Higgs from the University of Birmingham, her discovery may help people who monitor their weight not gain extra pounds through self-hypnosis or, for example, the so-called "behavioral therapy", writes telegraf.by with reference to The Daily Mail.

In an experiment by scientists to study the effect of memories of food on subsequent meals, 47 female students took part, divided into two groups, who were asked to rate the taste of cookies. After eating, half of the volunteers were asked to describe their breakfast in detail, and the other half of the subjects were asked to describe their last journey.

After completing the assignment, students from both groups were asked to eat up the remaining biscuits. As a result, volunteers who described their food experiences ate significantly less than those who did not focus on food. A significant decrease in appetite in the representatives of the first group was also observed three hours after eating.

A similar picture was observed when the students of the second group of TV programs were watching. During the experiment, the subjects involved a part of the brain called the hippocampus, which allowed scientists to suggest that drugs that affect it specifically could be used to reduce appetite.
