The symptoms of acute inflammation of the bladder mucosa are familiar to many women firsthand. Pain in the lower abdomen, frequent and urgent urges to visit the ladies' room, stinging, burning and pain when urinating. According to statistics, they annually bring discomfort to 36 million women in Russia.1.
Almost always the culprits of cystitis are bacteria - Escherichia coli and various staphylococci2… Much less often, doctors are faced with viral or fungal inflammation of the bladder mucosa. Infectious agents usually penetrate ascending, that is, from the urethra and the perineal region. Less commonly, the infection descends from the kidneys and ureters.
Any medical specialist will be able to diagnose, focusing on the characteristic symptoms - frequent painful urination in small portions, with sensations of cramps and burning, as well as signs of acute inflammation in urine tests. But only an experienced urologist can prescribe competent treatment.
Indeed, in the treatment of inflammation of the bladder, it is important not only to get rid of uncomfortable symptoms, but also to prevent the transition of acute cystitis into a chronic form with frequent exacerbations. Therefore, when the first signs of the disease appear, you should seek help from a urologist.
What will an experienced doctor advise?
Currently, the most authoritative practical guide is the recommendations of the European Association of Urologists, which are also used by Russian doctors of this specialty in their daily work.
According to these recommendations, the main role in treatment is played by antibiotic therapy, which can quickly relieve the pathogen and clinical symptoms of the disease. Depending on the bacteria that caused cystitis, doctors suggest using antibiotic therapy.3 of varying duration.
However, the emerging antibiotic resistance of bacteria has been a major problem in recent years. This forces doctors to look for new means for antibiotic therapy, as well as resort to complex treatment of inflammation of the bladder.
In complex therapy (when more than one drug is used), along with antibiotics, herbal preparations are used that have anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and antispasmodic effects. Many experts prescribe them in conjunction with antibiotics, considering such treatment to be the most effective. One of these drugs is Phytolysin.
It contains the extract of several plants that have been used in healing since ancient times. Among them are: goldenrod, horsetail, wheatgrass, bird gorse, birch leaves, lovage, wheatgrass, parsley, sage oil, mint, pine, orange and fenugreek seeds. A carefully selected mixture of beneficial herbs has anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic effects.
Against the background of its intake, pains in the lower abdomen decrease, cramps and burning sensations subside, excruciatingly painful urge to urinate stops.
Phytolysin comes in the form of a paste that dissolves quickly in water. Adults are prescribed orally, after meals, 1 teaspoon of paste, dissolved in half a glass of water, 3-4 times a day. It can be used in the complex treatment of acute cystitis together with antibiotics or after their use. The course of therapy is from 2 to 6 weeks.
What's the bottom line?
According to the recommendations of the European Association of Urology, in acute cystitis, the appointment of a short course of antibacterial drugs is necessary in the vast majority of cases. And herbal preparations increase the effectiveness of the course of antibiotics and reduce the frequency of unwanted drug reactions that may arise as a result of their use.
