Kanye West paid $ 85,000 to copyright a photograph of Whitney Houston's drug-filled bathroom. The snapshot will be used for the cover artwork for rapper Pusha T Daytona's new album.
The photo was taken in 2006 at the Houston home in Atlanta. Then the singer was at the peak of her drug addiction. The photo was published after Whitney's death.
Daytona, which was originally titled King Push, was to follow up on King Push - Darkest Before Dawn: The Prelude, which was released in December 2015 but was delayed. In April of this year, West, who is in charge of production, tweeted that the album will be released on May 25th. “We spent a year and a half writing the album and sourcing samples,” West said.
Pusha T revealed that West continues to make changes to the album literally the day before release, as he did with his own album, The Life of Pablo. Changing the cover photo was Kanye's idea. At the same time, West personally paid for the license for the photograph.
