Algorithm of conducting

For rinsing to bring maximum benefit, it must be carried out in strict accordance with the instructions:

  1. Use a vasoconstrictor medication 10 minutes before irrigation to open blocked sinuses.
  2. Heat the selected solution to 30 ° C-35 ° C. Lower temperatures can cause hypothermia. The optimal volume is 200 ml for each nasal passage.
  3. Use a rubber bulb with a soft tip for the procedure, a syringe without a needle, a teapot or a special teapot called "neti-pot" (you will find it at the points of sale of oriental goods). Also in the pharmacy chain you can buy a bottle for washing.
  4. Tilt your head to the left, insert the tip of your chosen tool a few millimeters into your right nostril.
  5. Carefully, without pressure, pour in the drug. If you did everything correctly, fluid will flow out through the left nasal passage.
  6. Repeat the manipulation, turning your head in the opposite direction.
  7. After rinsing, blow your nose to get rid of any remaining solution.

Try to hold your breath during the procedure. Otherwise, the fluid used may enter the larynx, trachea, bronchi, or ear canals.

If you suffer from sinusitis, then the irrigation is done differently. Lean over the bath, pinch any nostril with your finger, open your mouth and draw in the prepared solution with your free nostril. After it pours out through the mouth, repeat the manipulation of the second nasal passage.

In the next hour, do not leave the house, as many means for cleansing the nose eliminate not only a viscous secret, but also a useful microflora.

Remember that manipulation is prohibited in case of severe curvature of the nasal septum, otitis media, a tendency to nosebleeds, edema, and neoplasms in the nasal cavity.

This is just a small list of medicines. All of them are presented in the form of drops or spray. Any product qualitatively moisturizes the mucous membrane, accelerates the regeneration processes, enhances resistance to pathogenic bacteria and viruses, reduces swelling, and liquefies mucus.

Their main advantage is ease of use, the absence of contraindications (except for individual sensitivity to sea water) and the need to pass hundreds of milliliters of liquid through the nose.

If these drugs are not affordable for you, you can purchase regular sodium chloride, aka saline. The medicine acts very gently, does not dry out the nasal mucosa, makes breathing easier, flushes out pathogenic microorganisms and allergens, promotes the removal of viscous secretions and pus from the sinuses.

If you have trouble breathing, you can make your own solutions for rinsing your nose at home.

They are no less effective than the products of the pharmaceutical market, and will quickly cope with congestion:

  1. Saline solution. Boil 500 ml of water, cool to 30 ° C, add 5 g of table or sea salt without impurities. Stir well, strain through cheesecloth to get rid of small stones and undissolved crystals. This will create a classic isotonic saline rinse solution. You can enrich it with 1 or 2 drops of iodine, which will help relieve inflammation.
  2. Soda (capable of neutralizing most harmful microorganisms) and salt. Prepare the solution as described above by adding 1 teaspoon of baking soda to it. Mix thoroughly, filter the precipitate.
  3. Chamomile decoction. Pour 1 tablespoon of dry inflorescences with 0.5 liters of water, let it brew for 60 minutes, strain. Such a solution will reduce swelling, soothe mucous membranes, improve blood circulation, and cope well with allergic rhinitis.
  4. Calendula. The method of preparation is similar to a decoction of chamomile. The product has antiseptic properties.
  5. Beets and honey … Combine 200 ml each of warm boiled water and freshly squeezed beetroot juice. Add 2 tablespoons of natural liquid honey. The medicine is able to destroy bacteria, relieve inflammation. Do not use it prophylactically. For the treatment of rhinitis only.
  6. Propolis. In 250 ml of warm purified water, dilute 10 drops of bee product tincture, a teaspoon of table salt, 2 drops of iodine.
  7. Celandine. Pour 200 ml of boiling water over 1 teaspoon of dry herb, leave for 2 hours. Add 5 g of salt, strain. This is a concentrated composition that should be used very carefully for advanced sinusitis. If you are worried about ordinary rhinitis, take 1 tablespoon of the herb for 1 liter of water, boil for 3 minutes, strain, use as directed.

Giving preference to folk remedies, do not forget about individual intolerance and the possible development of an allergic reaction.

It is necessary to rinse the nose for medicinal purposes 2-3 times a day. The course lasts from 7 to 14 days. Be sure to use vasoconstrictor drops before each procedure. Otherwise, irrigation will become less efficient. The only exception is free nose breathing.

If you do not feel relief, be sure to seek advice from an otolaryngologist.
