Our ancestors also knew about the healing properties of the bath: it gives vigor and strength, rejuvenates the body and soul, removes toxins from the body. And with the help of bath procedures, you can strengthen the immune system, cure some diseases of the skin and respiratory system, and even lose weight.

Bath accessories

What is the Russian bathhouse associated with in the first place? That's right, with brooms. The choice of a broom depends on what effect you want to achieve as a result of visiting the bath:

  • Oak relieves stress, reduces oiliness and elasticity of the skin.
  • Conifers and eucalyptus treat colds.
  • Birch expands the bronchi, treats pain in joints and muscles, heals the skin.
  • Linden relieves headaches, has a decongestant and diuretic effect.

In addition to a broom, you will need mittens and other bath accessories. Bring 2 sheets for wrapping up and laying on the shelves and 2 bath towels for hair and body. A felt hat is needed to protect the head and hair from overheating and can be found in the store in the sauna section. Washable slippers or flip-flops are also necessary, since it is unhygienic to walk barefoot on the floor.

And in the bath, it is very useful to drink herbal teas (from linden, chamomile, fennel, mint, herbs) and drinks from berries and fruits (juices, fruit drinks). All drinks can be brewed in a thermos, add honey or fructose, and then drink warm in the bath.

Bath rules

Now choose the day when you go to the bathhouse, and prepare everything you need. And so that going to the bathhouse will bring you only benefit and positive emotions, remember a few rules:

1. You shouldn't eat a lot before visiting the bathhouse, but you can't go on an empty stomach either - you may feel dizzy. When you take a steam bath, blood flows to the skin from the internal organs, and therefore gastric juice is produced worse and the digestion process slows down.

2. Before going to the steam room, it is useful to warm up or swim for 15 minutes: this way your muscles will be enriched with blood, and the beneficial effect of the bath will only increase.

3. Before entering the steam room, take a warm shower without soap (it will only degrease the skin and deprive it of its protection from the hot air). And to protect the head from overheating, the hair should be left dry. To do this, put on a special felt hat.

4. In order to relax as much as possible, it is better to lie in the bath. Do not get up abruptly - you may feel dizzy. Start steaming with a temperature of 60 degrees, gradually increasing it. Usually they enter the steam room 2-3 times and stay there for 8-15 minutes, and take a break of 10-15 minutes between visits.

5. You can use a broom when you are already used to steam. In order to properly steam the broom, it is poured over with boiling water and soaked for several minutes in hot water.

6. In the steam room, you need to breathe only through your nose, otherwise you risk drying out the bronchi or lungs with scalding steam.

7. When leaving the steam room, do not immediately dive into a snowdrift or ice pool - only experienced bath attendants can afford this. Limit yourself to a cool shower and just sit wrapped in a sheet.

8. In the bath you can arrange an aromatherapy session: coniferous and woody aromas are best suited.

To do this, add essential oil to the water in which the broom is steamed. But it cannot be poured onto hot stones.

9. During rest, in between visits, it is recommended to drink a lot, since the body loses up to 1.5 liters of fluid in one bath session. But alcoholic beverages should not be consumed - this will only increase the load on the body and reduce the healing effect of bath procedures.

ten. Finally, wash yourself with warm water and rest for at least half an hour.
