The sensational film by Andrey Zvyagintsev "Elena" was recognized as the best film work of the year. This is the decision of the Russian Guild of Historians of Cinema and Film Critics. The Russian Guild of Historians of Cinema and Film Critics has been presenting the White Elephant awards since 1998. The leader in the number of awards was Alexander Zeldovich's Target, which was awarded the White Elephants for the best camera work (Alexander Ilkhovsky), the best work of an artist (Yuri Kharikov, Vladimir Rodimin), as well as music written by Leonid Desyatnikov. The outgoing year was undoubtedly successful for Zvyagintsev. In May, the filmmaker received the main prize for the film "Elena" in the program "Unassigned View" of the Cannes Film Festival. Then there was a nomination in the competition of the Venice Festival, and last month it became known that the performer of the leading role in the film, Nadezhda Markina, was nominated for the award of the European Film Academy in the category "Best Actress".
Andrey Zvyagintsev was inspired by his success and during one of the recent press conferences announced that he was already planning at least four new films. At the moment, according to Zvyagintsev, he is looking for a local project similar in format to Elena.
“Now, in our intentions, we are moving towards one project, the thought of which takes my breath away. I will not announce either the author or the title. I can only say that if it happens, it will be an unexpected step in my biography,”said the director.
