Gazmanov urged to boycott Eurovision

Popular singer Oleg Gazmanov is not one of those who follow with interest international music competitions. Nevertheless, the artist has his own opinion about the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest. Gazmanov believes that this year Russia should not take part in the competition. Because the policy of Kiev towards Russian artists is extremely unfriendly.

Last year, Gazmanov was on the so-called black list. The artist is prohibited from entering the territory of Ukraine. The singer considers this outrageous and in a new interview called for a boycott of Eurovision.

“The organizers of the competition caved in to Ukraine, fulfilling its conditions - our artists are prohibited from entering the country where the competition is being held. I think this is the genocide of our artists. I'm not going to go to Eurovision, but the very fact that hundreds of our artists have been declared banned from entering Ukraine is nonsense. I think we need to publicly abandon Eurovision. It does not give us anything - no advantages in life, in the development of culture. Therefore, we must publicly slam the door: "Guys, that's enough!" We need to make our own international competition - for the CIS zone. I would have done that,”said the artist in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda.

According to Gazmanov, Eurovision has become by no means a musical, but a political competition. “If people give 10 points to our artist in some country, and the jury gives zero - how to call it? What kind of competition is this? In this situation, it is necessary to disclose the essence of this competition in all Western and Russian media. He has been political for a long time. Now is a good opportunity. You just have to say that we will not go, because we don’t want to endure various kinds of provocations and think what will happen to our guys who will go there”.
