The most interesting monuments to fairytale characters

On August 23, 1913, one of the most famous monuments in the world was opened in Copenhagen - the heroine of the fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen, The Little Mermaid.

Its author, Danish sculptor Edward Eriksen, asked the ballerina Ellen Price to act as a model for the statue, but she refused to pose in the nude, so Eriksen used only her face and sculpted the figure from his wife Eline.

Today the Little Mermaid is one of the symbols of Copenhagen and a favorite tourist attraction.
