Singer Sinéad O'Connor loves graceful provocations. And recently she threw down another challenge. According to the artist, she turned to the organizers of the American Music Awards show with a request to give her the opportunity to perform at an event in the company of the Pope, but Sinead was refused.

The celebrity planned to perform at the ceremony, which will be held on November 24, the 1990 single Nothing Compares 2 U and a new composition under the symbolic title Take Me To Church. But due to disagreements with the organizers, Sinead ultimately refused to participate in the ceremony. As the star clarified, the organizers did not like the idea of the presence of Pope Francis on the show.

We will remind, in the year before last, the performer had serious health problems. O'Connor was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. The singer underwent a course of treatment, and the month before last she successfully presented her tenth studio album under the symbolic title I'm Not Bossy, I'm The Boss (translated as “I'm not bossy, I'm a boss”).

“I have not heard anything more disrespectful and disrespectful towards the Pope, towards me and millions of Catholics, than the refusal of the show organizers from the presence of the pontiff (I have an idea - let him think about staying away from show business and celebrities in general!). Now I will not perform,”O'Connor said indignantly on her official website.

She added a little later: “It is often said, 'Sinead O'Connor is crazy.' Of course, there is no smoke without fire. But let's ask the question, who is really crazy after this incident?"
