Scientists around the world are eagerly awaiting the publication of the names of the most prestigious awards - the Nobel Prize. But before the names of the heroes of the current year become known, the already traditional ceremony of presenting the Antinobel Prize, or, as it is called in Russia, the Shnobel Prize, took place at Harvard.

Among the laureates of this year were numerous predictors of the end of the world. According to some of the versions presented, the end of the world should have come several times: for example, in 1954, in 1982, in 1992, in 1994 or in 2011.

Usually, the Shnobel Prizes are awarded in all "Nobel" nominations: physics, chemistry, medicine, literature, economics and the struggle for peace. Shnobelevs are also awarded in areas such as biology, engineering and management. In addition, a special thematic category is often created for original and award-winning research.

The organizer of the award, the Annals of Improbable Research magazine, publishes reports throughout the year about unusual, funny or downright stupid research and events in the world of science.

One of the awards went to a Norwegian researcher who tried to scientifically explain the cause of sighing in everyday life.

Another award went to the authors of the study on how the need to urinate affects the decision-making process.

The Mayor of Vilnius Arturas Zuokas was also among the winners of the Shnobel Prize. He proposed combating illegal parking of luxury cars with tanks and demonstrated what it might look like.

At the end of July this year, a politician crushed a car in an armored tank while its owner was in a store. When the wrecked car was towed away, Zuokas swept the road, removing the remaining glass, and also shook hands with the owner of the car, saying that it was no longer worth parking.
