The principality of Abu Dhabi (UAE) is used to wealth and luxury. And it may be the only place in the world where a $ 11 million Christmas tree is not considered to be anything special. Nevertheless, according to experts, a gorgeous tree can enter the Guinness Book of Records.

The tree itself, just over 12 meters high, installed at the Emirates Palace, is worth only 10 thousand. However, in addition to traditional gold balls, tinsel and garlands, expensive watches and jewelry with precious stones - pearls, emeralds, sapphires and even diamonds - are hung on it. Observers counted only 181 gems. The tree sparkles and burns with fire from the lower branches to the spire.

According to Hans Olberz, manager of Emirates Palace, the tree is installed at the hotel every year. “However, this year we wanted something special,” he said. The security of the decorations on the tree is monitored around the clock by security guards, as well as by video surveillance cameras.

It is worth recalling that Chinese manufacturers have already tried to create an ultra-luxurious Christmas tree. So, in 2007, a Christmas tree worth $ 1.8 million was displayed in one of the department stores of the Chinese chain Takashimaya. The tree, the height of which did not exceed 40 centimeters, was decorated with 400 diamonds of 2 and 3 carats.

According to him, in this way the owners wanted to enter the Guinness Book of Records with the tree.

He added that although the UAE is an Islamic state, Christian holidays such as Christmas are not prohibited there either. “This is a very liberal country. Tourists have the right to celebrate Christmas,”Olberz said.

According to the tabloids, the seven-star Emirates Palace hotel costs $ 1.1 million for a week, although there are also more expensive deals, which include renting a luxury car and a helicopter. Previously, the hotel managed to surprise the guests by installing a vending machine for gold bars.
