Armani and Bono will help Africa

Italian designer Giorgio Armani and famous rocker Bono have formed a strategic fashion alliance - together they will create a fashion collection of clothes and accessories for the Red brand, created to fight AIDS in African countries. For Red, a grandiose business project organized by Bono and Bobby Shriver, Armani will develop a special collection that includes Emporio Armani style sunglasses"

“It's time to act,” Armani said at the World Economic Forum in Davos (Switzerland). “True, in a slightly different way. When my friends Bono and Bobby suggested joining the project, I immediately realized that it would be an initiative in a new, modern style. It's a great idea to organize a global brand for charity. I've always loved modest-rimmed diamonds and the Red brand can't be called anything else. It's good to feel as active an AIDS activist as Bono. I consider myself a Democrat fashion designer, but this project will help me learn new methods of innovative work."

However, Bono and Shriver recruited not only the Italian couturier into the ranks of philanthropists. The celebrity activists have also signed contracts with major companies Converse and Gap to produce footwear and T-shirts in African countries and even "knocked out" the most powerful credit corporation American Express to issue special "red" cards.

While in Davos and waving a special Amex Red Card, Bono said: "Philanthropy is like good music, it keeps you in good shape."
