Dozens of international competitions for the best friends of man are held annually in the world. Starting from exhibitions, where exclusively purebred dogs take part, and ending with a kind of American competition for the title of "the ugliest dog". However, the owners of the marble mastiff named George, who live in the US state of Arizona, are claiming more. They applied to be included in the Guinness Book of Records. At four years old, George may well be considered one of the largest dogs in the world.

George's height reaches 110 centimeters. Its length from nose to tail is 2.13 meters. The dog weighs more than 111 kilograms. According to the owners, the dog eats almost 50 kilograms of food every month. George has a separate bed in the house. Until he grew too big, he slept with the owners. Now the length of the paws allows the dog to sit on the chair almost like a human.

The dog's owners live in Arizona. They started a Facebook fan club for George. In addition, the dog has a website and microblogging on Twitter.

As noted by Lenta.ru, earlier the title of the largest dog in the world belonged to the Great Dane Gibson, who died of a malignant tumor in August 2008.

By the way, last summer, the owners of another dog applied for inclusion in the Guinness Book of Records. But the owners of the Max Terrier claimed to be the oldest dog in the world. In August, the dog turned 26 years old.

According to owner Max, she and her husband bought the puppy from a local farmer in 1983. The choice fell on Max because of the brown suit, which distinguishes him from his brothers and sisters. According to the hostess, her pet has no special secrets of longevity: all its life the dog eats traditional dog food and only sometimes gets a meat bone. “We never give him food from our table. He's not spoiled here,”the woman says.
