Actor Ivar Kalninsh told why Alla Pugacheva was changed to Sofia Rotaru in the 1981 film "Soul". It turned out that the whole thing is in the conflict between the singer and the director of the motion picture.
The film "Soul" was released on Soviet screens in 1981. The plot of the film project tells about a popular pop singer, in whose life a "black" streak has come. A creative crisis, the betrayal of musician friends and a terrible diagnosis push the main character to leave the stage, but she is unable to do so.
The main role in the TV project was played by Sofia Rotaru, who had previously starred in musical films. However, as it turned out, instead of Sofia Mikhailovna, Alla Pugacheva was supposed to act in films. Actor Ivar Kalninsh, who also took part in the filming of the film "Soul", told about this.
The film was directed by Alexander Stefanovich, the second husband of Alla Borisovna. Initially, he saw in the role of the main character it was the Prima Donna, but then changed his mind because of the conflict with her. The couple began to divorce, and this was the reason that Pugacheva was replaced by Rotaru.
“When I was offered this script, the main character of the film was Alla Pugacheva. Then director Alexander Stefanovich called: "There will be no Pugacheva, there will be Rotaru." Stefanovich parted with Pugacheva ", - Ivar remembered in a conversation with "7days".
The actor also said how much he was impressed by his acquaintance with Sofia Mikhailovna. The shooting took place in the Crimea, Ivar Kalninsh was driving from Simferopol to Yalta and stopped at a cafe. Going inside, he found a married couple sitting at a table. The woman approached him, greeted him and asked amiably if the actor was going to the shooting of the film "Soul".
Ivar was very surprised, because at first he did not recognize the famous singer, icon of the 80s in Sofia Rotaru. The singer herself noted that ordinary passers-by on the street often do not recognize her. The thing is that on stage the artist always performs with loose curls, and in ordinary life she collects her hair in a bun, becoming unrecognizable.
