On Thursday, April 8, the film “Blindness” was released in Russia, directed by Fernando Meirelles (“City of God”) based on the novel by Nobel Prize laureate Jose Saramago. The picture evokes a lot of both positive and negative reviews - it is too painful for it to be merciless to the moral image of a modern person.

The man returns home and feels that he is losing his eyesight: the world has begun to plunge into a cloudy haze … The same fate befalls everyone he meets on his way: a stranger, a doctor, a wife. The metropolis is in panic. Blinded helpless people are sent to quarantine in an abandoned psychiatric hospital. In fact, society is in a hurry to get rid of them, trying in vain to protect itself from the epidemic. Among those who happened to be here, only one sighted woman (Juliana Moore), who followed the blind doctor, her beloved husband (Mark Ruffalo) to the hospital.

For some reason, the infection does not take the heroine. She becomes the support of all the blind in the hospital. When her husband becomes desperate, it is the doctor's wife who will guide the blind. It is possible that she and her love are the only hope for humanity …

“The doctor’s wife is an ordinary person,” says Juliana Moore. - She is imperfect, like all of us. At the very beginning, she worries only about her husband. But the ability to see leads to the fact that she simultaneously begins to be detached and becomes a leader."

The film also stars Alice Braga, Gael Garcia Bernal, Danny Glover, Mori Chaikin, Sandra Oh, Joe Cobden, Yoshino Kimura.

After showing the picture at festivals and pre-premiere screenings, critics say that the film is scary not because of the picture of the epidemic itself, but because of how unsightly the animals of the beginning of people are shown in case of danger …
