Many fans were surprised that for a long time Alexander was treated at home, because he had great connections, including in medicine. He was hospitalized too late when extensive lung damage began. Stefanovich was immediately placed in intensive care, but they could no longer help him.

Luka, the illegitimate son of artist Nikas Safronov, spoke in the program “Let them talk. Special issue”that at first Alexander was not too worried about another cold. At the beginning of each summer, he was sick with ARVI or the flu, because he liked to turn on the air conditioner in the car. Stefanovich turned to a doctor he knew, and he said that if a film director gets sick every year, it is definitely a banal cold, and advised him to drink antibiotics.

Alexander obeyed the advice of a "knowledgeable" person and finished the medicines left over from last year. When Stefanovich completely lost his hug, Luka advised him to do a PCR test. Alexander, meanwhile, was getting worse.

Luka and Nikas found excellent doctors who prescribed effective drugs that reduce the burden on the lungs and heart. All expensive drugs were bought, but they no longer helped. A courier with groceries came to Alexander 2-3 times a day, and there was a nurse near him. In the meantime, the temperature rose, the cough intensified, and the condition worsened.

Stefanovich himself go to doctors, but the Safronovs did not insist on this. Alexander trusted the invited doctors and strictly followed their instructions. He was confident that he would recover. At one point, the director even felt better, he thought that the disease had receded

The director decided to seek help from the doctors he knew only when he could no longer walk, and before going to the hospital, he started talking about the will. Doctors conducted an examination and found that all indicators were normal, but the next day Stefanovich's condition deteriorated sharply. Saturation dropped to a critical 70%. The director was placed in intensive care, connected to a ventilator, but it was too late. Stefanovich left on 13 July. Alexander Stefanovich was buried at the Troekurovsky cemetery on July 16, 2021.

Experts of the studio "Let them talk", having learned about the intervention of the Safronovs, immediately attacked them, shouting and accusing them of Alexander's death. In their opinion, Luka brought in incomprehensible medications, prescribed by some unknown person, and did not insist on hospitalization. They are sure that if it were not for the "help" of the Safronovs, Stefanovich could have survived.

Nikas defended his honor and the honor of his son. He assured that Alexander himself did not want to go to the hospital and go under observation, because he had obligations to Channel One. Nikas assures that the director was a man of his word. He carefully monitored his health, wore a mask, believed in the presence of coronavirus and even wanted to be vaccinated, but simply did not have time - the day before the event, he had a fever.
