Will an art education help me become an illustrator or designer? How do you know if you have the ability for a modern creative profession? And is it worth spending time and energy to master such a new specialty?

Detailed answers to these questions are given by Victoria Sukhasyan, an artist who has been painting since childhood, knows when a person's creative potential is revealed and how it helps in life.

Contemporary artist: his new vocations

The word "artist" is broader than it is understood in colloquial speech. It means a person who is engaged in any kind of fine art - painting, sculpture. New types of art, such as art photography, are also a field for artists.

Let's look at history. Many famous painters painted only in certain genres. And they became famous for their individual unique works.

For example, Rembrandt van Rijn was inspired by beautiful images of people, and he painted many portraits. Picasso thought outside the box, thanks to which his unique paintings are highly valued.

True, many paintings went down in history after the lives of the authors. But these examples prove that an artist always needs inspiration and out-of-the-box thinking to create masterpieces.

If an artist lives in a person, he appears as a muse, inspires and helps to fantasize, throws up new ideas.

For example, a person with a vocation for art may have a desire …

- to paint pictures for sale, for exhibitions;

- work on portraits;

- make illustrations;

- try yourself in the profession of an interior designer, decorator.

An artist can also develop a certain genre of painting by tutoring

Fashionable professions of illustrator and designer welcome original ideas and out-of-the-box thinking. In such a position, you can't just follow patterns and diagrams!

At the same time, such creative specialties are forced to look for a middle ground between inspiration and what the market demands. Thinking over a photo exhibition or design of new things, the artist is forced to follow the fashion. And in this, however, there is a plus - unique creative works are now paid with dignity, provide recognition instantly!

How the artist's talent manifests itself

Since school years, a person has been faced with various career guidance tests. There are also methods for adults that help to identify a propensity for a particular profession.

Of the majority of these techniques, I will single out two important points that will help you understand whether you have a vocation to be an artist.

At first, the process of work - drawing, photography - should be pleasant. Yes, yes, the creative profession is suitable for you only if you enjoy doing the work, and not just being recognized for the original result.

Secondly, remember what you loved most to do as a child.

The ability to be creative is manifested at a very early age. However, it is worth knowing: it is not inherited!

Observing the children during joint games, you can identify who is the leader, who is strong, and who shows creative thinking - doing tasks in pictures for friends, etc. Who were you?

Since childhood, the artist has shown some traits that are important in the profession.

  • The artist notices the beauty in ordinary things. He can admire the dew drops, the way it snows.
  • From an early age he masters various materials for creativity. If you want to draw, a stick will do!
  • The future artist shows great imagination.
  • He has a baggage of unique ideas that he wants to share with others on paper.
  • The child may have his own handwriting of the artist - for example, flowers in each painting.

I became convinced that these are the traits that are needed in the creative profession. I studied for a long time to convey the colors of nature using watercolors. But sometimes I get ideas for bright modern paintings for the interior - I take a marker and create a poster for the occasion.

And finally

I offer you a few more methods to reveal the creative potential inherent in childhood.

  1. Play with the children their favorite games - for example, blind man's buff. When you are forced to navigate blindfolded, other senses become sharper and out-of-the-box thinking appears.
  2. Try to dream without boundaries about your new job. Imagine that tomorrow you will be able to choose any interesting profession, and do not drive yourself into a framework like “there should be a stable salary”. Try to understand your true desires and talents.

It's always good to share beautiful ideas with the world, and the world will inspire again and again! If an artist lives in you, be sure to find your calling, and let your favorite work bring you joy.
