Graduation is the main holiday awaiting graduates of grades 9 and 11 and their parents. In connection with the quarantine due to the coronavirus in Russia, they are all worried about whether there will be a graduation in 2020.

At the moment, there is no confirmed information about the ban on proms. But despite this, the cancellation of the main holiday, which all graduates are waiting for, is real.

The issue of the date of the celebrations, the date of the transfer will be considered separately in each region of Russia. The decision will be made depending on the epidemiological situation in a particular administrative-territorial entity.

According to the information provided by the Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Lyubov Dukhanina, there will be no cancellation of proms. It's just that the date of the prom will be postponed, however, as will the USE and the entrance exams to higher educational institutions. In addition, the issuance of certificates of completion of the 9th and 11th grades will be postponed to a later date.

There is no information on when the coronavirus will stop spreading throughout the country. But many refer to the experience of those countries where they have already been able to overcome the epidemic. If we take into account the dynamics of development and the fight against coronavirus in China, then, most likely, everything should be over in Russia by the end of June, and then the prom will not have to be rescheduled.

Graduation Events for Grade 9 Students

Despite the fact that today all schoolchildren receive their education online, and schools are closed for quarantine, the Ministry of Education allowed the OGE to be held at any convenient date from June 8 to July 31.

The choice of the exam date will depend on the epidemiological situation in each individual region. If the spread of the virus begins to decline there, then, most likely, ninth-graders will receive their certificates at the end of June, and graduation parties can be held on July 26-27.

In Moscow and the Moscow region, the situation with the spread of the virus is the most difficult, so experts say that the 9th grade graduation ceremony may be postponed to mid or late August.

Estimated Graduation Dates for Grade 11 Students

At the moment, there is no exact information on whether the unified state exams for 11 grades will be postponed. According to the preliminary version, the exam will be postponed for at least two weeks and, most likely, the first exam will be held on June 8.

If there are no more postponements of the date of the exams, the last one will take place on July 11. The Ministry of Education promises to return to the issue of holding unified state exams and graduation parties after the May holidays.

Experts suggest that most likely, the 11th grade graduation will be held, depending on the region, on the following dates: July 17, 18, 24, 25.

In addition, the authorities of a number of regions stated that the decision on holding a graduation ceremony for schoolchildren will largely depend not only on the epidemiological situation in the country, but also on the decision of parents who are directly responsible for the life and health of their children.

Graduation in kindergartens

Even if the quarantine ends at the end of May and the epidemiological situation changes for the better, you will still have to avoid large crowds for some time. As for the graduation in kindergarten, it will be much easier, since the graduation date is not tied to the date of the exams. Experts believe that kindergarten graduation will be postponed until the first half of the summer.

Despite the spread of the virus in Russia, the government is not raising the question of whether there will be a graduation in 2020 due to the coronavirus. We are only talking about the need to postpone the date of the festive events. There is no exact information about proms in Russia yet.
