The age of bulky and unsightly, repeatedly repainted accordion batteries is a thing of the past. No more camouflage screens and blackout curtains. Invisible, neat and flat radiators have taken an honorable "window-sill" place in most homes. Cast-iron brothers in the updated version are found only in the apartments of retro style lovers. It would seem - everything: the perfect combination of functionality and beauty is obtained! But no, in the pursuit of excellence, designers have no equal. They came up with a new class of heating appliances - creative. And again they put us before a choice: hide this beauty under the windows or put it on public display as the central art object?

Metal "canvases" will be liked by the unusual shapes and variety of finishes.

Everything, as usual, began with the Europeans. The Italians have released a series of mixed style radiators: hi-tech plus art house … "Kandinsky", "Malevich", "Bernini", "Hermitage", "David" - only a small part of the assortment. And even if you are not a connoisseur, metal "canvases" will like the unusual shapes and variety of finishes: from gold, copper, brass and silver to mirror and matte surfaces with various shades.

The Dutch took the initiative. At one of the shows at the Design Academy, "interior guru" Gus Van Lieven presented his know-how - animal shaped heaterscovered with skins with "wheat" lining that absorbs and accumulates heat. Deer, foxes, rams - everything is life-size. The only "but" - the animal rights activists are in shock … the furs are real.

If, of all the skins, only your own is valuable to you, and it is its invaluable that you want to groom, cherish and warm during the period of severe frosts, then you should pay attention to the conceptual solution of the Milan studio - lounger-radiator … A kind of designer humor. However, if the space in the apartment allows, it makes sense to take it seriously and allocate a few square meters for a surreal object.

London craftsmen, like no one else, can find a balance between conservatism and originality.

Oppositional, eccentric solutions are not for you? The interior in your apartment is made in a colonial style, and avant-garde things will not fit into the overall concept? Then England will save you! Foundations, traditions, restraint - London craftsmen, like no one else, can find a balance between conservatism and originality. Just imagine: warm, cozy, a cat sits at a wooden white gate: a small bolt with a hook, loops, transverse and longitudinal strips - everything is as usual … only this is not wood, but metal, and not a wicket, but a radiator! These are the miracles that the unusual designer Lucy Mershan does with ordinary things.

You read up to this point, you studied the pictures, and something stirred in your soul … suddenly you wanted to create yourself. Is there really no alternative to ready-made options? There are constructors for children, why not do something similar for adults, but in the "battery" area?

Digging into the wilds of the Internet, we have found a suitable solution - flexible batteries ! The idea came to mind of two designers Stefano Razheni and Giorgio de Tiglio. At first glance, it may seem that the Ciussai radiator is not a heating device, but a concept of a new shower: a hose of incredible length is wound around a bar. But this creation won the prestigious Wallpaper Design Awards in 2009 - an international prize sponsored by a leading American interior design publication. And the model took not just anything, but “gold” in the nomination “Best household appliance”. You can do anything with a hose: wrap around hooks, lay on the floor, curl around suitable objects … you can even put in bed to keep it warm before bed. Only the limits of your imagination will be a limitation on use.

Well, since we are talking about children's designers, we cannot ignore variations on the theme of children's toys … The rooms of the younger generation also deserve originality. And you can add "drive" to the interior with the help of a brightly colored pig-battery. A funny, almost cartoonish animal will not leave indifferent not only children's but also adult hearts: a pink piglet, a twisted tail, an accordion body. Only minor changes were made to the usual form of the radiator, but what a result! However, this is also a foreign development.

A cast-iron monster with impressive weight and tremendous heat dissipation is quite a worthy example of the domestic "radiator" industry.

And what about ours? Are we behind? Really, Russian designers have nothing to oppose in the competition for a sophisticated consumer? Calm down, ladies and gentlemen! There is also gunpowder in the flasks of Lebedev's studio. Their "Teplozavrus" will plug any analogue into the belt. Power, creativity and … functionality! A cast-iron monster with impressive weight and tremendous heat dissipation is quite a worthy example of the domestic "radiator" industry. Skull, spine, ribs, legs and tail … everything is assembled in the same way as when installing a standard heater, but more fun! The only pity is that this idea stopped at the stage of production of a prototype and the model did not go into series. Otherwise, our homes would have “plunged” long ago into the Mesozoic, where hats, mittens and scarves would dry on the heads of prehistoric reptiles.
