We are not used to relaxing alone and are almost always looking for a fun company to go on a trip together. If a beloved man, mother or best friend for some reason cannot share our vacation with us, then we begin to worry and think that the vacation is doomed to failure. Loneliness in a foreign city or another country is certainly boredom and the inability to share the joy of the trip with a loved one.

In fact, everything is not as scary as it might seem at first glance. Yes, traveling alone, you need to be very attentive and vigilant, but there are some charms in this kind of rest. In the end, it was the “solitary” journey that allowed the main character of the film “Eat, Pray, Love” to find herself and her place in life.

The benefits of traveling alone

1. You do not depend on other people's desires

If you are going on vacation with your husband, children, parents or girlfriends, be prepared to find a compromise every day - go to the beach or walk around the city, dine at a pizzeria or a Japanese restaurant, etc. And every time there are reasons for quarrels. But relaxation alone is devoid of such "joys": if you want to bask under the gentle sun - bask, if you planned to wander around the shops - wander. No one stands above their hearts and whines that shopping is too tiring.

2. You become more sociable

It only seems at first glance that relaxation alone is a two-week silence and walks to the accompaniment of music in headphones. In fact, you will have to communicate even more than if you went on a trip with a friend. At the very least, short conversations with hotel concierges, maids, waiters, salespeople and bystanders will have to be done in person. Here, like it or not, you will overcome the barrier that prevents you from freely communicating with strangers.

3. You can understand yourself

A temporary change of place, a relaxed state, the opportunity to be alone with yourself and think about what worries you - all this is the best possible way to help you realize your own desires. After all, to be completely honest, every day we play dozens of roles, we try to meet someone's standards, we want someone to please. And a vacation spent alone is practically a confession to yourself. No need to look back at someone else's opinion - you just live and that's it.

4. You can have a holiday romance

The summer affair is non-binding. You are just you, and he is just him: a man and a woman in love who enjoy each other's company. The resort romance, of course, must be treated very carefully so as not to stumble upon a swindler or not pick up some venereal disease, but still, such a relationship can greatly raise women's self-esteem.

And it has long been no secret that a woman's physical health depends on her emotional state, and a southern affair is the best way to get positive.

The main rules for traveling alone

1. Observe the dress code of the new country

If in the country where you are going, women only wear long skirts, and open knees are equated with the fall, then it is better not to break the established rules. Yes, you are a tourist, but you shouldn't offend the feelings of the locals.

2. Give up expensive jewelry

It is better to leave gold and diamonds at home, the same applies to expensive accessories: bags, wallets, watches. Yes, they can be stolen from you even when you are resting with someone close to you, but in this case, there is a chance that at least someone will notice the thief. Being alone, it is very difficult to keep track of everything that is happening around.

3. Don't catch a taxi on the road

To vote on the road and take the first ride that stops - forget about it. It is very risky to do this even in your home country, what can we say about abroad? It is not known who will drive the car - a decent person or someone who is able to deceive a lonely tourist.

4. Try not to walk alone at night

Even the cutest and most harmless resort towns get a little intimidating at night. Local residents have their own rules, and sometimes drunken amateurs walk the streets. You don't want to flinch at every shadow, do you?

5. Arrive before dark

The same goes for the day of arrival - try to arrive at your new location before it gets completely dark. Of course, you can take a taxi from the airport to the hotel, but if suddenly this is not possible, it will be much easier and better to look for a hotel in daylight, and not in the dark.

6. Don't be frank with strangers

You shouldn't tell strangers about who you are, where you are from, where you are staying. Firstly, outsiders do not need to know about your social status, and secondly, why invite a person to you if you are not sure of his intentions?

Don't be discouraged if you have to spend your next vacation alone - it's not so bad. Sometimes such a vacation can give much more than noisy parties in a large company.

However, do not forget about basic safety rules - a few simple steps can save your trip and you too.
