If a person has lost his job, he can apply to the Employment Center to obtain unemployed status and unemployment benefits. The state makes payments within the first 6 months after losing a job. Learn more about how to get unemployment benefits in 2020 for a person living in Moscow.

The right to receive payment from the state

In order to be eligible for payment, a person who has lost his job must receive the status of an unemployed officially. The allowance is paid once a month, but not more than six months from the date of contacting the Employment Center.

On the territory of Russia, the official status can be obtained by a person over 16 years old who has lost his job, but has not earned a pension.

Persons who are not eligible for unemployment benefits:

  • adolescents aged 16 and over;
  • citizens who are unable to work for health reasons. Most often these are people with disabilities;
  • citizens who have reached retirement age;
  • full-time students;
  • founders of any company and firm;
  • persons sentenced to correctional labor.

Within 10 days from the moment of contacting the Employment Center, a decision is made to assign (or refuse) the status of unemployed. Contact should be at the place of residence. The Employment Center must offer the unemployed available vacancies. If all else fails, the person may be given the opportunity to retrain.

What is the amount put in Moscow

The amount of unemployment benefits is set by the Government of the Russian Federation and directly depends on the average earnings in the last job. It is also influenced by such factors:

  • the employee's work experience and not only in the last place, but overall for all professional activities, entered in the work book;
  • the total amount of funds earned during the last 6 months;
  • the reason for dismissal (of their own free will or on staff reduction);
  • how long a person is out of work and others.

This also applies to those who are dismissed from military service. The amount paid to military personnel will be part of the basic earnings that an employee received in military service.

Quite often, Moscow residents turn to Employment Centers with a question not only how to get unemployment benefits, but also how much they can count on in 2020. So, unemployment benefits can range from 1,500 to 8,000 rubles. And if an employee of pre-retirement age has lost his job, then the amount should be no more than 11,280 rubles.

The calculation is based on the average earnings in the last place:

  • In the first three months after dismissal, an allowance of 75% is paid;
  • from 4 to 6 months, the payment will be 60%.

If after six months the employee does not get a job, then the payment can be assigned for another 6 months, but it will be minimal.
