Natalia Oreiro: "Russian men kiss well"

The star of our childhood and adolescence, the heroine of the TV series "The Rich and Famous" and "Wild Angel" Natalia Oreiro came to Russia again. This time she decided to stay here for a long time to go on a large-scale tour of the country. To show how dear Russian fans are to her, she will visit as many as 16 cities. But before that, she has one more mission - Oreiro signed a contract with the famous Palette brand and became the face of the brand's new product (hair dyes) - also exclusively in Russia.

"Cleo" managed to talk to Natalia. Cheerful and completely unchanged for many years, the 37-year-old star told us how to properly care for your hair, why Argentines love Russian women and why she can cry.

You have become the face of a new hair dye. This is not your first experience of filming in advertising, but your first experience in advertising such media. Tell us how it was

I dyed my hair for many years. I was red, white, black, platinum, and when they called me from Palette, I was very happy, because the Schwarzkopf brand is very famous in Latin America. I immediately called my mother, she is my hairdresser, and said that they contacted me and invited me to a casting in Russia.

I liked the filming process - there were a lot of people, I felt like a real Cinderella. There were a lot of different clothes, and I could choose what I liked. When I was asked what you want to choose, I replied that I want everything. (Laughs) And the film crew has always been interested in what I like and what I don’t.

What is the difference between working in films and shooting in advertising?

Everything is very similar here, but I do not play in advertising, I need to be identified with the product, so I refused many projects, since it was not mine. For me, as an artist, it is very important that people do not think that I am deceiving them. They need to see me for who I am. It's different in movies - I can be a positive or negative character, but that doesn't mean that I am. This is the difference - in the film I play, and in the commercial I am the real one.

As you already said, you very often changed your hair color and hairstyle, and what was the impetus for such a frequent change of image?

When I was younger, I tried all possible colors, all possible hairstyles, but now I am already a woman, so it is more convenient for me in a color that is very close to my natural one. And, of course, a lot depends on the films in which I have played and will play, but now I want to stick to the color that I have now. He's elegant and sexy. (Laughs.)

And yet, when I had very bright hair, I was immediately recognized on the street and shouted - "Natalia!" Now, if I want to go unnoticed, I'll just put on jeans and sneakers, and if I want to be recognized, I'll put on my makeup and do my hair - now I have a choice.

What was the most desperate experiment in your hair?

I remember at one time I had blue hair - that was too much. (Laughs.)

Do you have any hair care secrets?

When I was little, I had very little hair, and my mother prepared all sorts of strange masks for me to make them grow better and be thicker. She made masks from butter and eggs. I don’t know if this experiment worked, but now my hair grows very quickly and I am happy with it. Nutrition is also very important for hair, you need to use quality products, and not only shampoo, but also conditioners and masks. I wash my head every day - to keep my hair in the right shape, it needs daily care.

Very soon you are going on a tour of Russia, tell us a little about your plans

This is the biggest music tour I've had. I have been working on this project for a very long time - there will be many surprises. Especially in clothes - there will be not only beautiful dresses, but other outfits as well - I want to show my love for Russian fans and for Russia in general.

Also, especially for this concert, I recorded a video and prepared the song Me Muero De Amor in Russian with Facundo Arana (actor, Natalia's partner in the series "Wild Angel" and "You Are My Life" - ed.).

This is the biggest music tour I've had. I have been working on this project for a very long time - there will be many surprises. Especially in clothes.

We often travel to Moscow and St. Petersburg, but not to other cities. So it's great that I can get closer to my fans in other cities. Previously, I received letters that the concert is taking place in Moscow and not everyone has the opportunity to come, but now I receive messages that people have bought tickets and will be able to go to my concert in their city. It is very important for me. We will travel by train and plane - I will get to know all of Russia from the inside.

Are there any cities in Russia to which you would like to return again?

There is one city that, unfortunately, I will not go this time, but I would very much like to return there again - this is Volgograd. I was there in the same place where there is a monument to my mother ("Motherland is calling!" Seeing him, I experienced very strong and violent emotions. I would very much like to visit there again.

Where do you like more - in Russia or in Argentina?

In Russia! (Laughs.) In Russia, I have the most fans. In Argentina, they do not believe that I am going to Russia and that everyone there loves me.

If your friends or acquaintances asked to describe Russian women and men, what would you tell them?

There are a lot of Russian women in Argentina. At one time, for my sake, some of them went there and are now meeting with the Argentines. This is where Russian men would have to think. (Laughs.) Russian women are very beautiful and are highly valued for their beauty. Brunettes, blondes, besides, they are very intellectually developed. For an Argentinean, having a Russian girl as his companion is the biggest dream in life.

And about men … I had a very interesting moment: my sister came with me and when she saw Russian men, she was surprised that they were so tall. But my sister is now single, she is not married … (Laughs.)

I really liked the experience of communication that I had with Russian men. When I was filming the Russian TV series "In the rhythm of tango", I kissed with two different men and I can say that they kiss well. (Laughs.) But this is just for the sake of work. At least for now. (Laughs.)

What do you like about our culture?

It amazes me how talented you are. Once at a dinner at the Russian embassy, I met the famous Russian director Karen Shakhnazarov, and he told me a lot about cinema - I was very interested. I love Russian cinema, and I also have favorite Russian films.

But you have not only good movies. I was also surprised when I saw nesting dolls - they are always so beautifully painted, and even the smallest one has patterns and inscriptions. It was a surprise to me how subtly people can work.

And also very often they gave me and still give me portraits drawn in pencil. And when I show them to my mother, we are surprised that everyone draws so well in your country.

You are very good and talented in many ways. For example, when we came up with numbers for my concert with my dancers, we wanted to prepare a dance that would be very similar to ballet. They tried to dance ballet, but I wanted it to be a real Russian ballet, so it was decided that they would rather not dance. (Laughs.)

We know that you love to walk around the cities in Russia. Will you take the time to see the sights of the provincial towns on this tour?

Oh sure. I really want to go on tour - we will shoot a documentary about it. I want not only to visit cities with concerts, but also to meet closer with fans, to live and capture all these joyful moments. We will be recording many different stories, so I think the video should be interesting. We do not yet know in what format the film will be, whether it will be shown on TV or it will be some kind of disc. I am recording this video for my grandchildren so that they can then see what their grandmother was doing in Russia. (Laughs.)

You are a very busy woman: a singer, an actress, a wife, and a mother. How do you manage everything?

We women can do several things at the same time. A woman can cook with curlers on her head, paint in the car. We can do any thing, I, for example, can dye my hair myself in the bathroom, and not only that. (Laughs.) And when a person is in love, everything becomes much easier.

Yet how do you manage to find a balance between work and family?

Seriously though, it's actually very difficult to find this balance when you strive to move professionally in your career, but also want to make time for your family. Sometimes there are days when it is very difficult for me to find time for everything, but we women are very strong on the inside.

I have a very good husband who helps and supports me - it becomes much easier for me to cope with everything. We always try to travel as a family - this time my son Merlin and my sister Adriana came with me. And since I will be here for forty days, my husband will be here in two weeks. Last December my parents were here, and in May I came only with a child. Work turns out like a vacation with a family.

You are the UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for Argentina and Uruguay. What are your responsibilities?

As a UNICEF Ambassador, I am involved in many projects. My main responsibility is to participate in projects related to the development of children from birth to three months. The earliest age is the most important for the correct further development of the child. I have already participated in many projects related to this.

You are a very emotional and vulnerable person, plus constant stress at work. How often do you cry? What can make you cry?

I cry all the time. I have been awake for two nights already - my son has a severe cough. I hugged him, and as a mother, it was very hard for me. At such moments, I can cry, and it becomes easier.

Very often I read letters from fans and cry too. Once fans gave me a book they made themselves - there were a hundred letters. And on each letter a station was drawn and it was written how many kilometers from Buenos Aires to the city in which the person who wrote the letter lives. And every story in this book is very important to me, which is probably why I want to make a documentary.

And when my son was born, the fans gave me a small blanket, which they made from squares sewn together. For a very long time, my baby slept under this blanket. I am moved by such moments that people do so much for me that they spend their time on it. And naturally, this cannot but cause tears.
